this is where i ramble.

photography
i like taking photographs (noooo.. reallly?) and i often get comments from friends saying 'why take a photograph of a plate of sushi? are you weird? i don't get it. you're funny.' and to that i say .. 'why not?' and 'no, i'm not a freak'. i don't think i'm strange for taking photographs of everyday objects.

i think i could expand alot though. if there's one thing i know that i lack, it's that i don't have alot of people portraits. any portraits are usually Regan or myself. i wish i had more people to photograph. and i wish i could be more dynamic with the things i photograph. no point in wishing though, i have to get out there and do it.

a time to shop
we're trying desperately to start saving for the trip in sept/oct, so i haven't bought anything i don't need for a few weeks (which is a record for me). if i had the money, i'd be buying nesquik strawberry lip balm, dairy queen vanilla cone lip balm and ecco bella organic vanilla lip balm from lipmedic. mmm. balms.

we also need to get another heater for the ever-cold and drafty apartment of ours. and i need another pair of jeans. and maybe that nice pink knit top i saw the other day. and maybe some new socks. and a new blanket. and shoes, everyone loves shoes.

a time to shop 'spin off' : earrings

i found these babies for 2 for $9 at the markets last weekend, which is a bargain - so of course i got them. Regan and my sister keep saying that i should just get my ears pierced, but as long as i have spare clips to add onto earrings like these - i'll stay hole free for now.

running out of space
i mentioned this over at *express, 9 months of 10D photographs is eating away at my computer - so the other night i started backing it up on CDs. so far, i'm up to number 22 - with about 10 more to go! oi vey. too much stuff on the computer makes for a slow, troubled working day. i've freed up about 15GB on one drive now, (15GB not used) but i want to get it to at least 20GB before i stop. i'll have to start backing up all my original photograph files straight from the camera each time i upload.

broken
the 'at' symbol on my keyboard doesn't want to work today so i'll be cutting and pasting it until it does.

Invest in a DVD burner. They're dirt cheap (around $140 for Pioneer) and make backing up much easier and convienent than CD's.

Put the comments aside. Just do what you want photography wise.

Where do you think all those great mouthwatering photos of food come from for magazines, newspapers & websites come from.

Someones gotta go it.

Have you thought of putting an ad in the paper asking for models? You might not be able to pay them big bucks, but you could offer them a couple 8x10's from the shoot.

I was taking a photo of a bulding the other night and my friends just didn't get it ...
Those photos of sushi are amazing!

What makes me adore your photographs is that you DO photograph everyday objects. it is so refreshing to see them as something beautiful...something that we never attribute to sushi or whatnot. but you show people how incredible ordinary objects can be. now that is what i call great photography :)

i would love to see more people photographs! the ones you have taken of yourself and regan are some of my favourites of your photos. i bet you could do wonderful things with other people.

yes, i love taking photos of random every day objects! I would take photos of my dinner every night, but I just can't cook, lol. But I must have a photo of almost every object I own.. my absolute favourite thing to photograph is nature. Flowers, trees, etc etc. I love it!

my friends have grown to understand that when you take such pictures it makes you "arty", hehe. so i guess that's better than them just asking questions. they deem some things "laura pictures" of like, ceilings, and then try to take similar ones. it's quite appreciated that they actually care.

first of all... don't listen to your friends. they are dumb. second of all... the only photographs that look cool are the ones with weird objects in them. never stop taking pictures... you're a great photographer. you are very original.

I think your photos are beautiful. I take pictures of food all the time. (o: It's so fun and different, and who wants to look at something that's the *same* as everyone else's pictures? I love looking at your work. Really. BTW, I linked you on my site. Why? Cuz I <3 your work. (o:
