did someone order a heatwave?
pretty stinking hot on Friday and Saturday - thank god for a cooler, rainer Sunday!!!!!
Regan and I knew it would be hot Friday/Saturday, so we escaped to my parent's house because it's all airconditioned and we wouldn't melt like popsicles in our tiny apartment... the cool air was much appreciated 8am saturday morning when it felt like i'd left the oven on all night.
one thing I noticed that was tough, because I didn't want to cook while we were there (for 2 days), that there wasn't alot of gluten free food in the area. there's some suspicious sushi in a foodcourt nearby and mcdonald's 1 gluten free item - a salad, and that's about it. i ended up with a salad for dinner, and salad at sumo salad for breakfast the next day. the sydian curried pumpkin thingos weren't very good because i didn't have any sauces to go with :( can't complain, next time i'll pack more things to bring with me, even if it's for 2 days away. (oh, and NEVER eat any creamy dairy goodness no matter how tempting it is - i need to remember i'm lactose intolerant too!!!) i think outback steakhouse has a gluten free menu, i might have to check that out next time.
for the past couple of weeks i've been training myself to keep drinking water. my standard was 2 cups but i've been really dehydrated lately, so it's more of a personal goal to get up to 5-6 cups asap. i've made it a game that if i'm sitting in front of the tv, whenever a commercial comes on, i have 3 mouthfuls of water. or if i'm at work, and outlook automatically receives an email or i finish a phone call - i take a drink of water. i can do 4 cups now, my belly needs to stretch some more!!!
i've reworked my gluten free food blog a bit tonight. the older style is still up here but i wanted it to not look like a standard blog.. more like a website. i'll leave it for a couple of weeks and see how it looks then
mum & dad have jumped off their cruise and are now headed back to the house in taiping (malaysia). i had a dream last night i went after them in new zealand (random?) just to tell them how hideous their kitchen is (it really is. the whole back of the oven has fallen off and the door has no springs) and they need to renovate it as soon as they got back. hint hint mum.
not long before my family gets back from their seperate adventures overseas - gavin gets back from europe in 2 weeks, mum gets back a few days after, dad returns a few weeks after that and hayley comes back in early december! hooray! we haven't been altogether for over a year, i miss having yum cha with the all, even if i'm just sitting there enjoying the conversation ...
