here's something i'll write about

since i had nothing else to report other than the heat and my groceries, i'll address the Big Day Out 'flag ban' issue.

1. Big Day Out have not banned the Australian flag from the festival. They have requested that large flags are not brought in.

2. The media are a bunch of vultures.

3. People are too quick to believe in what is reported on tv and in the newspaper, even if the report contained misinformation. It really wasn't hard for me to look up the BDO website to see what was officially requested. Why didn't the Daily Telegraph do so also before they whipped everyone up into an Aussie pride parade? Don't they have employed fact checkers?

4. I don't know anyone who wakes up on the morning of any music festival and decides to take their flag.

it's really strange for me to see so many people jump on the 'it's an OUTRAGE! you can't tell me I can't take pride in my country' bus. nowhere has it been suggested that this was what the BDO organisers wanted. i love Australia as much as the next flag wearing sheila, but i'd suggest shutting up until you get your facts straight.

it's incredibly frustrating to see people like Howard talk about this 'ban' as if he were talking about something else completely different. it's like we're not reading the same press release, or getting the same information.

as it stands currently, you are free to take a small flag if you wanted, you could wear aussie flag shorts or paint it on your face. they're not legally stopping you.

so what's the problem?
