lucky dog

Regan and I have been hankering to take Mischa swimming. we thought it would be good exercise for her hip muscles (since she has hip dysplasia) and poodles are supposed to enjoy the water (as do most dogs, i guess!).

so after 4pm, over the bridge and around the corner we went - i had heard about a dog friendly beach across the harbour and figured that on a nice hot sunny day it would be worth checking out at least once.

after taking the wrong turn (darn construction work got me confused) and missing the street to turn down, we found the hidden cove with the million dollar mansions perched up on the steep hill. the beach isn't a swimming beach, which is why i guess dogs are welcome razz but it was still a nice (very) quiet family spot where the parking is free, your pup can run around and you can catch some rays. in the distance you can see the city (which is about 15 mins away by car), so it's hard to believe you're so close to the cbd, yet you could be mistaken for being up the coast somewhere.

as soon as we got there, Mischa seemed to attract the fancy of a certain dog named Max. he followed her the whole time, following her across the reserve, down the stairs, over the sand, into the water, back over the sand ... it was cute, but the mounting wasn't, lol.

anyway, Mischa seemed to like being there, off leash and in the water, we could see that her back legs were getting a work out and she wasn't in any pain at the same time. she looked like she had wandered 10 years in a sandstorm by the time we were done haha. sand. everywhere.

we're definately going back!
