For the Australian Baby Blog, I love showing you new and cool maternity, pregnancy, baby and kids products. But, behind those products are hard working business owners that I admire so much. It’s hard work owning a business, and even more so when you’re a mum!
Today I’d love to shine the spotlight on Kaz and Lulu from Funky Cherubs.

I first came across Funky Cherubs earlier in the year with their personalised baby tshirt range and the adorable slip on Sweet Shoes.
I asked Kaz and Lulu to share a bit more about Funky Cherubs and what it’s like to run a business
Why did you start Funky Cherubs?
Funky Cherubs came to life whilst we were pregnant with our first children. We loved searching the net for products to buy for when our babies arrived, but we found that most of the items we loved were out of our price range. After many hours of research (and dreaming!) we decided that there was room for us in the market for funky & affordable products for Mums & Bubs, such as nappy bags, onesies and maternity wear. After many months of research, designing and meeting with suppliers we finally launched, with great pride, “Funky Cherubs”.
What is a typical day for you like?
A typical day is responding to and emailing customers/suppliers, and filling orders that need to be sent out for the day. Once this is all done we meet to go over new ways for advertising and
researching/design new products for Funky Cherubs. Oh, did we mention changing nappies and entertaining babies?
What has the hardest part been about being a small business owner?
Funky Cherubs is our first venture into the business world. We have had to learn as we go, and have experienced first hand the concept of trial and error! We knew that between us we had the foundations for running a successful business, but with this being said, it was things that we were least expecting that provided the biggest challenges, such as dealing with overseas suppliers, learning about importing products and the terminology, trying to decided where best to spend our money, and which type of advertising media was right for our products.
We are constantly talking to one another trying to find new ways to progress our business and products.

What is the best part?
Without a doubt the best part is being able to work from home and be with our children, we love that!
What are you most proud of?
We are most proud of the fact that we took the big leap and followed our dreams. It was a huge decision for us to delve into the world of small business ownership, but we are so glad that we did it.
We are also proud of the success of Funky Cherubs. We get some fantastic emails & feedback from our customers about our products, and that is priceless to us. We love hearing from you all, so please keep it coming!

If you could give any parent looking to start their own business, what would it be?
Go for it! We beleive in following your dreams and having no regrets. We started Funky Cherubs in the middle of the Global Financial Crisis, and some people thought we were crazy, but we trusted in ourselves and it paid off. Good luck to any parents who want to start their own business, it’s a lot of fun!
I’m a big fan of Funky Cherubs and love their “My First Diamonds” baby tshirt range
Thank you for sharing your experiences with Funky Cherubs, Kaz & Lulu. And a big congratulations to the newest additions to your family!
