I love the feel of quality clothing – the care that goes into the production ultimately means that the clothes will last longer which in turns means value for money! Great handmade children’s clothes can now be found all over the internet, which is a bonus for us mums and dads looking for something unique.

Urchin make cute handmade clothes for children from 3 months to 5 years. The designs are fun and colourful and each garment is hand finished. The tshirts are Australian made and they use recycled material where possible.

My favourite dress is the Kite ($38) – simple enough for any girl, but the pattern is cool enough for a day out with friends. It’s also 100% cotton and machine washable.

For the boys, these shorts ($36) are awesome. I love stripes and love the choice of blue/white stripes with the red edging. They’re also 100% cotton and machine washable so you can just throw them into the wash at the end of the day.

Handmade clothing may be a little pricier than the department stores – but it’s because it’s not mass produced by machines. With handmade, you’re getting a product that has been carefully created often by small businesses run by mum’s and dad’s just like us, using materials that don’t further harm our environment. I recommend that you check out handmade clothing if you’re looking for something special :)
