Jasper and I were invited to meet one of my girlfriends and her 2 kids out for lunch today. somewhere that was nearby but i had never been before. <\/p>\n

after dealing with the morning’s tantrums and finally getting into the car, I quickly check my Google Map while I still had Wi-Fi and noted that it should be one straight road with 2 simple turns to get there. easy. can’t go wrong. <\/p>\n

we set off in one direction and all the traffic lights were green and there was hardly any traffic, perfect we’ll be there in no time. <\/p>\n

we drove down the long winding straight road i saw on the map and enjoyed the scenery. then we enjoyed the scenery some more. and more. there seemed to be more and more cows & horses in paddocks and this road turned a little gravelly for my liking. <\/p>\n

the night before i had watched the first episode of The One, where a group of psychics are dropped in the middle of the bush one by one, and they have to find the helicopter to take them out of there. suddenly i had a sense of deja vu – we’re lost, no map and it’s taken 20 minutes so far on this 5 minute trip to the pub. <\/p>\n

the rain clouds were threatening to add another layer of doom, so instead of freaking out i turn up the radio and start looking around more carefully. we’ve taken a few different turns now so i have to trust my gut and go in the direction I think is right. <\/p>\n

15 minutes down what HAS to be the longest back road ever, i spy the entrance to the pub but totally miss the entrance. i double back and shake my fist at Google Map for sending me to Woop Woop and back. the pub ends up being so close to our usual haunts that it’s not funny, but the whole adventure has been a good reminder to trust your gut and go with your instincts. <\/p>\n

you might take a wrong turn here or there, but you will <\/em>get there. <\/p>\n
