we had our first ultrasound earlier this afternoon and it was every bit as amazing as i knew it would be \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

right up until today, i was so so anxious that i was a professional hypocondriac, and that i was dreaming everything so far. but there was absolutely nothing to worry about, nothing to be anxious about. <\/p>\n

we were there for about 2 hours (their computers had gone down so there was alot of waiting) but we saw our beautiful baby on this HUGE flat screen they have set up. it was like a movie theatre!! (i want it!) briefly, she turned the sound on\/up and we heard a loud thumping heartbeat (168bpm) which stunned us completely as we weren’t expecting it. <\/p>\n

we saw it’s little heartbeat flicker on the screen, it’s arms and legs flail about for brief moments and, true to Tracey form, it’s stubborness to move from a head down position. you’ll often find me like that on the couch. with a bag of corn chips. niiiice.<\/p>\n

Regan and I were told our chances of any genetic defects were very low – 1 in 18,359 chances of down syndrome; 1 in 33,467 chances of edward’s syndrome<\/a> or patau’s syndrome<\/a>. if it were 1 in 300 or below, then they’d consider us high risk. we could very well be high risk still (tests are about 90% accurate) but we’re at least confident the baby is in there and doing ok. <\/p>\n

another thing they mentioned was that they thought i was a few days further along, 12 weeks 5 days, but because the bloods matched my original calculations, they said to stay on track. <\/p>\n
