floating around
the past week has been like that for me, floating around with nothing really to report back here. thought i'd try to get something out anyway, free therapy for me it seems!
i'm finally getting things in order. i've set 2005 to be a year for saving my ass off for our first property (yep, we're thinking of buying instead of renting!) and to also get Regan off to school. i've put in for more hours at work which we've decided is the easiest and smartest way to make ends meet.. photography is still up there - but this way i won't have to rely on my skills as a photographer and businessman to pay for the rent (phew!).
one thing i'm definately planning in the next week - month or so, is a change in webhosts. so if you see sh1ft.org go down for any reason, that would be it. i'll be moving this journal, aswell as shutterbug and everything on the sh1ft.org domain. i can't afford to run my websites as they are now - alot of the stuff i don't really need has to go, and there are cheaper alternatives which i'm going to have to use. let me know if you're using a great web host with a decent hosting package! (500mb+ in storage, 50GB+ in bandwidth/month).
mum asked me to create a series of christmas cards last week, so i've spent a night or two shooting and printing them out. if you're interested in receiving one, or even buying a pack for a small donation - let me know. they're only really for our personal use, but i'm happy to share the christmas photography joy!
the last episode of sex and the city aired here last night, which was awesome to see finally (although i don't like who she ended up with ...) and next week it'll be the friends finale! is everything ending? dad will be back from malaysia on saturday which will be great, he had left the week after we got back from the states, so i haven't really spent much quality time with him in .. months! scraping the barrel here? mozilla went crazy on me yesterday, so i've lost months and months worth of bookmarks. we have the backups we made about 8 months ago, but in the meantime alot of cool websites we've saved to come back too are now floating around out there again. it's like having all your saved emails erased from your account - it sucks, but you'll be okay apart from that, nothing much is going on. how about you?

I've been with Dreamhost for years and I wouldn't even dream of changing hosts! Here are their plans: http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html Let me know if you have any questions about it.

I'm currently with www.volarex.com which I'm pretty happy with so far.
Ah I hate losing favourite sites, it's of course too hard to remember them all and you miss sites.

I'm with Surpass Hosting (2000mb space, 30gb bandwidth for USD5/mth) and I think it's one of the best hosts ever. Lots of space and bandwidth for low prices. I haven't experienced any serious downtime and my queries always get answered within a few hours.

yep, everything is ending. frasier ended here in the states too, 11 years i believe. i am oh so very sad about the friends ending, although i have been watching joey (it's not the same, but it's still funny). i started watching sex and the city reruns, since we don't have hbo anymore, and it has started airing on another channel here called tbs.
the cards look fantastic! are you printing them yourself or going to have them printed elsewhere? and if you are printing yourself, what type of paper? the paper i am using is only OK for photo printing and i am searching around for alternatives.

I love the christmas cards, extremely festive!! It's sad that all the good shows seem to be ending but I've got Friends & Sex and the city all on DVD, so I can watch em over and over, lol.

I didn't like who Carrie ended up with either. I'm such an Aidan fan...
Lovely Christmas card, BTW. :)

One way I keep all the sites that I want to go to is to just make a page with them on it. ( the links ) That way, unless you lose your whole website, you always have what you need. I have my resume', an address book, and all sorts of stuff. that way, when I'm at a friends house, I never have to worry about remembering numbers. they are all on a hidden page so noone can look but me!

oh, but carrie HAD to end up with him! (i think everyone knows who he ends up with considering australia gets EVERYTHING last... usually)... but yes, it relieved a lot of tension for me when they "hooked up" hehe.
the cards look gorgeous! if i weren't making my own this year, i'd buy a set.

The photos for your cards are lovely! My favorite is the first one, it actually makes me feel in the Christmas spirit (despite my trying desperately to avoid it right now since it's not even Thanksgiving here yet).
I have to agree with Jasmin's recommendation above. Surpass is a great host, their prices are dirt cheap and their support people typically reply within hours (sometimes minutes) of your ticket submission. The "OC5" plan has 5GB space/100GB bandwith for just $59 USD a year.
