resuming work-life

so the end of our holiday has come. i’ve had 2 weeks of amazing time off – i tried to make sure to really soak it all in so i can knuckle down and get back into work for the rest of the year (or whenever the next break is…)

i know alot of people feel this way – but i’m really dreading going back to work – similiar to how i felt going back after maternity leave. i feel like i need a change and that i don’t really belong there doing what i do now, but it’s hard to break out of habit

anyway, our holiday was fantastic. we stayed in Sydney, so we could show Regan’s mum and brother (who were visiting from the States) around. we ended up visiting Featherdale Wildlife Park, Taronga Zoo, Sydney Aquarium, aswell as walking around Darling Harbour, Chinatown, Hyde Park, Botanic Gardens, Opera House, Circular Quay, The Rocks and the general city area. it’s a shame it’s not really beach weather, i always love showing people Bondi but i guess there’s always next time (which might be another 4 years away at this rate..)

it was really cool to see them again, and for them to meet Jasper. we had such a great time together, it’s a shame they weren’t here a bit longer, but i’m glad that they came 🙂 it’s too long between visits

i love the dynamic between Regan and Ryan.. it’s sort of like how me and my sister are, except those two look/speak/walk/breathe almost exactly alike (as twin’s usually do). in one instance, they’re so much alike, but in another instance they’re completely different to me.

Jasper and i caught a bit of a cold – he’s still got a runny nose (and is teething like crazy again at the moment, so is Cranky) and i’m still using up the area’s supply in tissues… Regan’s starting to catch it now but doesn’t seem so bothered by it. (it’s the cough that tickles, rather than hurts)

we’ve been having a mouse problem the past 5 weeks or so, we’d seen it out of the corners of our eyes and heard it in the walls. while Regan’s mum and brother (Ryan) was here, we started to see it more often and out in the open – and a few days before they left, they managed to catch (and kill) 3 of them!! funnily enough, none of the 7 mouse traps we had around the house worked – sadly, it was a boot that got them. after Sharon & Ryan left, Regan caught a fourth one and so far it’s been quiet as a mouse (haha) in here. we did a huge clean out and the buggers had been eating through my supply of fabric i had packed under the stairs. 🙁 they even got up on TOP of the fridge, and also pee’d all over one of my typography books.. gees. we live directly next to a huge field, so we figure they’re coming in from there somehow.

i’m trying to redesign the blog tonight, so things are a bit different. i liked the other design, but i like keeping the design updated as much as i can. it still needs to POP though, so i’ll have to add ‘something’ as soon as i figure out what that is …
