last week, was my first week back at work after having our little Jovie. this time it went much better – no crazy hormones and the workload was just as big (with over 3,500 emails to read/check/reply) but i was able to just get on with it and work.
i see it how it is, more clearly than i did before. work is work. i need to work to help put food on the table, and as much i would adore being a stay at home mum, i am lucky to have the support of family to look after the kids and i’m lucky to have a good job that doesn’t take me away from my kids for more than i need to be.
i think new mums often grapple with the decision on what is best for their family and feel guilty with the decision to go back to work. going through it a second time, i’m more set up to know how to pace myself, to not guilt trip myself, to use my quality time time with the kids to the max and to know that i’m still a good mum, who just happens to work full time also.
