we’re in a very lucky (actually, no. not luck. we work hard to get what we have today!) position to be able to even THINK about doing the crazy – selling our townhouse and building a new house. eeeeeek!
i’ve been DREAMING of building my own home since i was very young – i’ve sketched out, oh maybe 600, homes that i’ve dreamt of (i’m not kidding) and even planned whole communities. if i could do anything else other than web developing or photography, i would be an architect or a town planner. i love it (and yes i realise there’s more than doodling and sketching, lol).
so for the past few weeks, in my days off and in the nights, i’ve been scouring the internet and display villages, making calls and sending emails, to find the perfect home THAT WE CAN AFFORD. (i can’t stress that enough). we’re doing ok but we’re not rolling in it! the biggest concern is to not increase our mortgage by much, decrease it if possible, because believe it or not, building a house is cheaper than buying one already completed.
we’re in talks with a mortgage broker and local real estate agents, we’ve narrowed the home builders and land down to about 3 choices. we’ve seen about 20 or so display homes, and alot of the single stories have the master bedroom to the front (which we didn’t want) but there are great homes with master to the back, thankfully.
it’s looking good and i’m so excited! i’ll update as we make decisions, but i think i’ll probably start a dedicated blog to building a home in sydney 🙂
