today was Jovie’s first day at Gymbaroo – and i won’t lie, i almost burst into tears.
i guess it’s the realisation on how far we have to go, and how different Jo is to the other kids. i think i really don’t want to be judged on face-value, if you didn’t know the back story you would think Jovie is spoiled (do what you like.. ) or i’m not parenting her properly.
we’re in the under 2’s class (Jovie is 26 months now) which is what was recommended. it was hard to get her to sit without freaking out, i’ve already learnt to not grab her by hands too much, as her fingers & hands are her comfort/soothing tool. she obviously couldn’t play ball or jump with the other kids, and she would have no part in a other play games. but she loved going under the parachute and did walk up a plank with some help which was pretty cute!
she did settle into it as much as she could, and i’m very proud of her 🙂
