do you believe in fate?

last wednesday, alot of things happened. small things, but nonetheless things that don’t ordinarily happen on a wednesday.

my sister hayley is volunteering at the nearby powerhouse museum’s lord of the rings exhibition. i didn’t know she would be there each wednesday, so i was surprised to see her at our door after work, wanting to stop by and chat (which is always nice!).

at the same time, next door, our neighbour had unfortunately locked him and his girlfriend out of their apartment. so while he went to chase down the spare key, his girlfriend alison knocked on our door and i invited her in to wait with us. we’d never met any of our neighbours on our floor before apart from the casual hello’s and how are you’s, so it was time for us to get to know them, i thought.

everything’s all fine and dandy, we’re talking about anything and everything like we’d known each other for years… when alison noticed a small candid wedding photo on my computer desk and then my sister’s lanyard (i.d.) around her neck with her photo and details… she had mentioned that she had an uncle with the same surname as ours, so we asked her what her’s was, and that our wedding ‘looked familiar’.

turns out we’re related!

in fact, before my parents had left for new zealand weeks ago, they had told her if there were any problems with the house – to call her father! her uncle and our father go on vacation together! she was invited to our wedding! my dad is their grand-uncle, which in some weird way, makes my sister and i her aunts! 😛

so by some strange coincedence that my sister had popped in after work (at a job she’s only there for 1 day a week), that she had not taken off her i.d., that our neighbour had locked himself out of his apartment (the only time they’ve done that), that his girlfriend stayed behind and knocked on our door (when she could of knocked on the neighbour to their other side), and that she had noticed the *small* photo i keep at the computer — we had found a niece, or sorts, right next door!

do you have any strange stories like that?

hey! that’s amazing! pretty cool how things turn out sometimes huh? Colorado is small so that stuff happens all the time.

I am loving your re-design! I re-designed a bit too. It was time for a facelift 🙂

hehe, and I was just looking at your links, went through the drop down and saw "erika" while I said, "that’s not me", and BOOM, it was. thanks girl 🙂 love the linkage, never gets old.

one more thing (taking up all your comments), I got the Canon Digital Rebel 300 D. So I need to brush up my skills. So excited.

wow, that’s incredible! what a SMALL WORLD 🙂 that was definitely not a coincidence. too many factors. perhaps fate? and yes, your redesign looks great~

oh, and no. i’m still waiting for my "niece, or sorts" strange discovery. haha

It is a small world indeed. When I just moved to L.A. (from Chicago and before that, from the Philippines) and started work, I met a girl at work who I recognized went to the same school as I in our elementary years in the Philippines! Her sister was my batchmate and her other sister was one of my older sister’s friend. Then, another girl at work turned out to be my second cousin’s wife (she’s got the same last name as my mom’s). Then another co-worker was my sister-in-law’s classmate (again!) in grade school. There are more but these are the ones that stand out in my mind.

Nice redesign, BTW!

your photography is amazing and you are really talented but it really bugs me when people write "alot" because it’s not a word, it’s two words, and you’re too intelligent for that.

Fucking amazing. Just the other day, I saw a car parked out side with the reg plate 99-c-3324 , what are the odds of me seeing that exact plate? Probably one in a billion.

WOW!!! That’s a freakin amazing coincidence! Well… I happen to belive things like that are much more than a coincidence. But still, it’s pretty amazing!

Still getting used to the design though 😉

That story is amazing! Of course I’m from a small town where people refer to me as "Didn’t-you-used-to-date-John-Gorman?" meaning that everyone in our town knew that we were a couple in high school (for 4 years). But while I don’t run into people I’m related I did tell my travel agent that SHE is in fact related to me via marrage! And boy was she shocked! 😉

Thats wild! What a small world earth is. Me have any wild stories like the one Tracey experienced? No. However, at weddings I am always shocked to see people who I have not seen for ages to be dating each other. For example, so-and-so is dating so-and so- sister? How did they hook up? That’s about it.
