before i left it too late, i thought i’d better write up what i did last Saturday!
Steve and Naomi had contacted me last year (while I was in the States actually!) to photograph their wedding. they had seen shutterbug and, apparently, loved my photos. as part of my drive for learning new things, i jumped at the chance to do this for them – and i couldn’t of photographed a better couple.
before the wedding, we’ve hung out, emailed and spoken on the phone – so i’ve gotten to know them and see how happy they are together. it’s not everyday you get to spend the whole day together and witness someone else’s happiest moments surrounded by friends and family, so i’ve thanked them (and will continue to) for the opportunity and the experience.
one of the best things of the day, was to really ‘find’ what kind of style i’m more suited too. i’m into posing people, i don’t like faking emotions between people in situations. i love relaxed and candid moments and i think i want to develop it more.
it was amazing to work with the other photographers Michael and Tim, because frankly if you have SEEN how small i am and then compare me to the 700 guests – you would laugh too! haha. Michael and Tim definately knew what they were doing on their end which helped me out even more. i also bumped into Tracy Yap who i’ve seen around the net for a couple of years, hello Tracy!
almost a week on and i’m slowly going through the 1600 shots or so i took throughout the long long day. there were so many things to learn, a lot of bad shots taken but also a heap of great shots that i’m proud of. it rained, was dark and cloudy, the church had high high high ceilings and i don’t like using flash etc.. i’ve surprised myself in that i’m not a portrait photographer, but did well nonetheless. even the prints i’ve made from them are better than i thought! i’ll probably post a couple of shots from the day, but not until the bride and groom see them first.
i’m hoping to do some more weddings (amongst other styles/people) this year. pass on my website if you know of anyone in Sydney that wants the Tracey-experience! 😛
