our first week in our new home has just passed – and i’ve been easing myself in to the new surrounds slowly
i haven’t really been upstairs yet, apart from sleeping and showering… i’ll get up there one day, definately once our new bed gets here – we’re sleeping in the guest room at the moment so i’m using that as an excuse to not unpack anything up there, lol.
Regan’s getting into a travel schedule now – instead of walking to work in 20 minutes, he has to take a bus at 7am to get to work on time (which means I have to drive him to the bus stop since it’s nowhere near our place). On the weekends, he has to take the train so I have to drive him to and from the station aswell, otherwise it’d take him an extra 50 minutes and $.. I don’t mind though, it’s nice to spend the 20 minutes in the car with him – otherwise we’d hardly see each other all week. We don’t want him to get too comfortable though, he’s looking for work around his new area and is working on getting his licence asap – fingers crossed!!
yesterday, after dropping him at the train station early in the morning – i went for a drive up our street. i’d seen hot air balloons earlier that morning but by the time i got back (8am) they’d gone 🙁 it was nice to see the area though – there’s heaps of land being developed further in, but i could still see some horses and cows and lots of acreage.
i didn’t ever think i’d be impressed by a cow, but there you go! it’s a really great area for us – we’re really proud of our new home, i love getting up in the morning and opening all the blinds to let in all the sunshine. i love my afternoon tea walking around our little backyard with mischa. i love that we have a 2 car garage and a cupboard under the staircase.
now all that’s left to do is pop this baby out, and the fun will really begin!
after a long day of moving and sorting and putting things back together, we’re moved into the townhouse 🙂
i had my last prenatal yoga class this morning (which was AWESOME by the way), but by the time i was done – all the furniture had been moved across and my parents and Regan had been busy over here all morning. again, i felt like a lazy ass not doing any of the hard work – but i know i couldn’t of (and shouldn’t of) done anything too tough. i’m already exhausted but i didn’t do much at all
the new place is gorgeous though – we still have boxes of stuff to unpack but the main furniture is all set and the computers seem OK. it’s very weird to go from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom townhouse! i can hear Regan upstairs (yes, upstairs!) and i have no idea what he is doing. usually, we know exactly what the other is doing 😛 lol
so over the next few weekends, Regan and I will get to know the area a bit more together – he might try and work nearby, instead of schlepping out to the city every day (his job is in the city). we’ll also use the time to really relax into the place, because in 7 short weeks or so – bub will be here and things will get a bit hectic!
so in a couple of hours, Regan, my parents and I will start to pack up the rest of our apartment – the fridge will be turned off, phone unplugged. I’ll pack up my pillows and camera gear, and Regan will put all his guitars and equipment in it’s cases.
i’ve been very nostalgic these past few days, realising that i’ll probably never live in the city again. of course, we’ll visit alot (how could we not? the city is beautiful!) but it’s not the same. we won’t be walking down to chinatown at 2am in the morning to get a slurpee, i won’t look out to see sydney tower every morning when i wake up. i’ll miss hearing fireworks and running up to the rooftop to watch them in the distance. i’ll even miss the construction men yelling things at each other every day…
don’t get me wrong – i cannot wait to get into our new townhouse!! (it’s going to be so much fun!!!) but number 82 has felt like a home to us these past 5 years, and i’ll miss it alot.
don’t be surprised if i blog about hugging each wall and kissing the balcony goodbye…
