well, my aches and pains are officially back. the honeymoon of the second trimester feels like it’s over but i’m hopeful it’s just a lull. no amount of sleep or water or rest has helped so far, so i’m happy that this week is shorter than the last two have been (i have the day off for my checkup on wednesday). i’m very uncomfortable walking around now, i think i’ve gained a bit of weight which is why everything is aching so bad. my head has been hurting since friday and my back isn’t doing too good either.
gah. when does maternity leave start? (not for 3 months, which is actually not far away)
so that’s enough complaining!
saturday, i woke up early to finally pick up the cushions from my IKEA rocking chair. i’d been there 4 times (each time checking beforehand whether they had stock, and they didn’t) and this time i was lucky! spent the rest of the day with my parents and my sister and fell asleep on the couch with Mischa.
today, i’ve been pottering around the apartment, baked some muffins for Regan, watched some tv and slept when i could. it looked really nice outside today but the couch and hot water bottle was too enticing …
i’ll make an effort to post happy things for the next week 🙂 i hate being such a grouch!
Hi hi, yes I’m here!
There’s been a definate drop in my energy levels in the past week – not sure whether it’s pregnancy related, or because I’m working my ass off 9am-7pm with no breaks most days – or maybe both. But my spirits are up, they’re just resting nicely on the couch over there while I toil away at the computer.
Bub has been kicking like a soccer pro as per usual. Way more than the suggested target of 10 movements a day – and often it makes me gasp out of surprise because the kicks are so noticeable! It’s fun to watch your belly at night but sometimes I expect an Alien-like situation where he comes bursting out all of a sudden. It’s cute that he’s the first thing that I feel when I wake up and the last when I go to sleep at night 🙂
At 24 weeks (about 5 1/2 months) along, he’s about 22cm’s long and room in there is getting scarce.
I’m starting to listen to Rockabye Baby cd’s because I think it’s cute and it’s good chillout music. I love that they have baby Radiohead, Nirvana and No Doubt!
We start aqua natal classes next week and I’m really excited! I miss exercise (did I just say that?) since I’ve stopped my daily pilates and walking in the cold is not very appealing right now ..
I’ve had a quick read about Birth Plans and what I would like to happen. I think my only requests will be that I can listen to music or watch something funny on tv (tv relaxes me) and that there’s alot of laughter and smiles to keep everything positive and welcoming. I’m open to the fact I might need an epidural or a c-section or other things, I think whatever is best for my son and I is fine.
I’m very lucky to not have anything else to report right now. Things are going along really well!
I have a checkup next week at the hospital, which also means I’m allowed to shop next week, lol. I’ve decided to only let myself shop whenever I have a checkup since we’re on a strict budget due to the mortgages (yes, 2!!) and because I won’t be paid when on maternity leave. I’ve found that between appointments, my ‘need’ list turns into the ‘don’t be silly’ list so I tend to buy less :p
i bought a cute swimwear set (singlet & bottoms) for the upcoming aquanatal classes i’m taking soon – they didn’t have maternity swimwear so i had to try on the regular sizes
turns out i’ve gone from a size 8 to a size 14!!! aye carumba, that’s some powerful expansion there
i don’t know how much weight i’ve put on (don’t care to check myself really) but i don’t feel too much bigger. funny how that works!
