about wrong numbers

i’m the lovely person that gets to answer all incoming calls for our company, so i’m on the receiving end of complaints when it’s the wrong number.
it’s becoming very distressing to take a call with someone who just doesn’t understand the concept of dialing a wrong number, or when someone has misprinted a number somewhere. i don’t know what else to tell them – someone has given them our number incorrectly and i can’t help them further.
no, i can’t tell you what to do for your phone card.
no, i can’t send you TIME life videos.
no, i can not perform a root canal.
seriously, i can’t, so why argue with me? it doesn’t get you more minutes or your teeth fixed.
i’m always very very polite and will Google a company name if they give me one so i can try and find a number for them (which is totally out of my way), but more often than not, they think i’m lying and yell at me before they hang up mid-sentence. this happens four or five times a day.
i don’t understand people sometimes.
