Happy to have logged in this morning to see that Team Jovie has now raised $1,000 towards Rett Syndrome research in Australia! THANK YOU!
I’ve never done any fundraising before, so reaching our goal so quickly is awesome and I couldn’t of done it without my family and friends (new & old). The Run4Fun isn’t until November 4, so we still have heaps of time to raise more awareness through October (Rett Syndrome Awareness month) and to maybe raise a little bit more over our goal 🙂
We’ve been busy little bees over here – we had the fantastic opportunity to be in our local paper! A couple of weeks ago I sent an email to the Rouse Hill Times about teamjovie.com – the next day I did a phone interview & the day after that their photographer came out to see us! Here were are on the website’s front page –

And in print –

The full article is online here if you want to have a read 🙂
I also made a bunch of Rett Syndrome awareness cards via moo.com and they arrived yesterday –

I loved the Purple cards but wanted to use my own Jovie photos and design to tie in with our Team Jovie website. It’s been something I wanted to make so I can hand out a little bit of info to friends and strangers whenever they ask me about Jovie (even some dr’s haven’t heard of it before.. yikes). The back has more info about RS but the front is all Jovie!
It’s been a huge deal for me to reach out and do these things because I still have the tendency to just go hide somewhere when I start a new project. I’m still working on it, but I’m very proud to have done what I can, so far.
Go Team Jovie!

I am a woman, set to a clock. I like things on time and I don’t like to be late. (You can be late, that’s ok, but I will turn up 1 hour early if I think *I* will be late). Jasper was born 22 hours ‘late’, Jovie was born 5 hours ‘late’ – good kids, those. Suffice to say that when my ‘lady days’ were late last week, for what was the first time in 19 years, it had me wondering.
Skipping the details, no I’m not pregnant but it definately had me thinking….
Regan and I had always said 2 kids was enough, and yes in alot of ways it is. Our house has enough room for 2 kids, the backseat of our car has room for 2 booster seats. We have one child for each of us, so we’re never too overwhelmed. It’s the ‘comfortable’ and ‘safe’ number for alot of families and I can see why.
I’d never thought of having another child after having Jovie, but even with all the ‘extra’ we’re doing lately with therapy etc, it doesn’t scare me to at least discuss it a little bit more now. Having that third child will tip the balance, but the more I think about it, the more I could see us with another child in our life.
SCARY but oddly okay.
I’ve been meaning to make this for a while – but for some reason, couldn’t find the chalkboard paint at Bunnings until this past weekend. we love our chalkboard decal so much, that i wanted to make a chalkboard for myself, to write big ass reminders or just play around with it whenever i had the chance.
so all i needed was that chalkboard paint (dulux brand was the only available, and about $20 for a 500ml can), a photo frame and a paint brush!

after giving the photo frame’s backing board a few coats, i let it dry in the warm sun and voila!

such an easy DIY project – i’ll definately experiment on different boards/backing as we go, the 500ml tin will last for ages since it’s such a small area and my sister has already requested one for her apartment…
