i’m having a little gluten free giveaway over at my gluten free food blog, check it out!
so i’m answering a thread at a message board about a private college that i attended after high school, and i’m counting back how many years ago it was. 6 wasn’t it? maybe 7? nope, it’s 10 YEARS AGO. 10!
i’m 28 years old. i went to college when i was 18. 10. YEARS. AGO.
after regaining consciousness, i started to think about what has happened, where did the time go.
1999 – 18 years old – college
2000 – 19 years old – started working in web development
2001 – 20 years old – met Regan, started blogging
2002 – 21 years old – started Regan’s migration process
2003 – 22 years old – caught up with work and the angst of being away from Regan
2004 – 23 years old – Regan & I were married
2005 – 24 years old – first year of marriage & a trip back to the USA together
2006 – 25 years old – bought our first property, weird trip back to Malaysia together, began gluten free lifestyle
2007 – 26 years old – Jasper arrived, bought our second property (sold the first)
2008 – 27 years old – dealt with being a working mum, pregnant for the second time
2009 – 28 years old – Jovie arrives
and when you look at it, that’s alot of stuff that’s happened but it just feels like it’s yesterday that i was at college, or when i met Regan, or was in the States, or bought our first property. it feels like this morning, we had Jasper and just an hour ago, I had Jovie. it doesn’t make me feel old too much, it makes me feel like i’ve lived the past 10 years pretty well – that i’ve filled it with things that i love and are positive for my future. that i haven’t really wasted any of it.
and if this isn’t an indication of how time flies when you’re having fun, i don’t know what is!! i wonder what the next 10 years will be like ..
where were you 10 years ago?
a long time ago, all the way back in oh 2004? 2005? when my photoblog shutterbug was doing well (but is now, sadly, neglected like the last piece of stinky cheese on a platter), i met a fellow sydney photoblogger online with a photoblog called ‘shutterfly’. over time, we became friends and would meet offline to catch up and take photographs now and then. we shared the same passion for photography and both dreamed of doing ‘something’ with it. years later, we are still friends and i have seen her bloom into, what i think, is her best work yet.
if you haven’t seen her work already, i’d like to introduce you to Amanda Gilligan. an amazing polaroid artist, an avid film photographer, and a genuinely lovely human being.
she’s just opened her first print store at esty where you’ll find her gorgeous polaroid work up for sale. YES! you can now own a lovely piece of polaroid art to decorate your home.

for more, check out Amanda’s Polaroid SX 70 flickr set and Paper Cameras.
