during yesterday’s storms, we lost power in our house which turned out to be not so bad. we lit some candles and watched the wind bend tree’s in half, while tiny hail stones pelted the windows. we were lucky to escape any real damage, although the same could not be said about the bamboo shades we had outside on our porch that were almost in tatters by morning.
needless to say, without power the computers and router don’t work, so i didn’t make it into work today… instead i spent the day fixing things around the house and playing with baby J. did i tell you he’s COMMANDO ROLLING NOW?? from lying on his back to rolling to his tummy (which I only just witnessed for the first time earlier yesterday) back to this back and again to his tummy! so so clever 😀
anyway, it was a fun experiment to see how we are without electricity, and i wouldn’t mind doing it every now and then – it’s sort of like camping, but indoors at home.. if that makes sense, lol…
and now it’s the weekend, which everyone always looks forward too 😉 let’s just hope there aren’t any more bad storms!
finally, finally, i’ve gotten somewhere close to finishing the design of the sh1ft.org project site – which means i had time to think about the next project!
because february this year has an extra day, i’ve decided to start with A Day In The Life which will run on friday february 29, 2008. it’s been over a year since the last ‘Day’ project (i think??) so it’s about time it ran. the jist of the original idea is to do something you don’t normally do on the leap day – i remember the last one i went up sydney tower to conquer my fear of heights i did it, but only briefly, lol 😛
hopefully i will get some more time this week to post up more information on the site – http://sh1ft.org/adayinthelife – and also dig up some of the archives of the best ‘Day’ results from long ago. i finally feel like i’m getting somewhere!!
since i’ve started back at work, i’ve been super busy – there’s not much ‘spare’ time for gettings things done, so everything is done in stages. if you’ve sent me an email, it may take weeks to get back to you. i’m trying my hardest to get 26 Things up and running for next month, but time is quickly drawing close and I haven’t even notified people yet. i only just got around to redesigning some of my blog, something i planned to do 2 months ago!
the only thing that gets my immediate attention is little Jasper 🙂
i’m tired, but i’m doing okay while i learn how to juggle things. i’m super lucky that J is a fantastic baby and sleeps the whole night – i can’t imagine what it’d be like if he was still waking for that morning feed! eeeep! it’s been so exciting to see him roll over for the first time, he’s started cackling which Regan and I think is hilarious 😀
my eye feels like it’s strained, so i better finish up work now before J gets back from grandma’s
