to my cheeky monkey, Jasper.
you’re now 2 months old! this second month has flown by so quickly – in a blink of an eye you’ve grown so much, yet stayed so tiny and new in this world. you’re still such a joy to your father and i, we still can’t believe our complete luck. we love you so much! and we love that you’ll sleep 8 hours overnight! lol.
you’ve gone from having a little bit of hair, to losing all of it on the top of your head, to growing it back again. people were starting to ask us whether we shaved you so you’d grow a mullet on purpose.. but at least you had the same hair as grandpa for a short time there.
you’re a very clever boy, my son! at about 5 weeks old you starting coo-ing and babbling, which delighted grandma coreen. you’ve now graduated to full ‘conversations’ with just about everyone you see, none of it we can understand of course, but your eyes tell us that you’re happy and want to know more more more! you love to look into the mirror at me, you give me the biggest smiles which render me useless for the moment. we think any day now you’re going to start giggling, i can see it – it’s just bursting to come out 😀 i’m trying desperately to capture more of your magic on video, but you are camera smart/shy and seem to stop whenever i start filming.
in the last two weeks, you’ve gone from 4.4kg’s to 5.7kg’s – i thought you might of cracked the 6kg mark by the ache of our backs lately 😉 you love your food, even more than you love the magic changetable (which seems to be a big comfort to you!).
you’ve become a big slobberpuss, often leaving lakes of saliva on the shoulders of anyone who picks you up. you’ve gone from no saliva, to holding the countries supplies of water in your mouth. (no wonder there’s a water shortage).
on december 9, our friends and family came to our home to welcome you into the family. you loved seeing everyone, seeing old friends and meeting new faces. your dad and i were so proud, we loved showing off our little bub! your grandparents, aunty hayley and i had fun organising everything – especially through the huge storm that came through our suburb. it seemed to miss our house though, as if someone knew not to rain on your day!
a week or so ago, you had your first christmas and you were SPOILED! everyone bought you a little gift, most that you’ll learn to play with over the next few months. for the whole family though, you were our gift. you truly transformed our christmas back to what it used to be like, but even better this time. to see your uncle gavin’s face light up, is an amazing feat as we hardly see him to begin with – he hasn’t spent alot of time with you yet but i can tell he’s charmed by you, like everyone else is.
you’re a beautiful little boy, Jasper. the best boy we could of ever dreamed.
we’re so happy to see in 2008 with you in our arms.
love, mumma.
