a good friend of mine’s dad was diagnosed last week, with a disease that will most probably end his life within the next year or so. i had no idea it was that serious and i feel bad for not understanding it when she told me tonight. when i had mentioned it to my dad when i got home, the look on his face said it all really. he was shocked and knew how bad it could get. (i’ve never seen him so serious about anything, even when he told me about his health problems). anyway, i told her to remain positive, for herself and her dad and that we’re all her for her and her family. what else can you say apart from that? i don’t know what it’s like for her and i don’t want to seem like i do. all i can do is be her friend as always and support her in any way i can.
it’s such a shitty deal though
but i guess this is what life is about. dealing with what you are given, even if it’s as bad as a disease with no known cure.
i think if you didn’t get the message before, think about it now. be grateful that you have what you do and that for every day you wake up and you’re healthy – be thankful. there are so many people out there with much less. don’t take the little things for granted, because that privilege can be so easily taken away from you.
