Instagram alternatives on Android?

Jovie has just fallen asleep for her nap, early, and we don’t dare wake her so I’ve had a few minutes to fiddle with my phone, lol.

Sorry to say, I can’t find a decent Instagram alternative on my Android (HTC Hero). Boo. I play with Instagram on my iPad but whipping out an iPad to take a photo when you’re out and about is CRAZY.

I do have favourites on my Hero that I wanted to recommend anyway 🙂

Vignette
I’ve been using this one for a while and I like it alot 🙂 I have it set to the instant square filter/frame you see above. It replaces the main camera on my phone but you can import any photo file into Vignette to process later.

Magic Hour Camera
I’ve only just started to use this one and so far so good. The best thing about it is the free filter market AND there is a feature where you can create your own filter via the mini photoshop-like software that’s included within the app. You can save your favourite filters to 1 section and scroll through really quick – very much like Instagram.

The only downsides to both Vignette and Magic Hour is that they don’t have a community behind it, like Instagram, where you can register an account and share & follow people. But that’s ok – posting to Twitter or Facebook will be enough for me right now…

Both apps above have free and paid versions so you can give it a go first and then opt to buy it (AU$4 max) for more features or support.

Do you have any good Instagram-like apps on your Android?

edited to add – yes I have tried the new Flickr for Android, PicPlz and a heap of other similar ones available, but sadly they were all slow and unresponsive on my HTC Hero. maybe it’s time for a new phone, lol.
