The new home for Danielle’s Hello Owl is now live 🙂
I’ve been working on it with her for the past week or so and it’s actually been alot of fun. I’ve been working with websites for small to large businesses for 10 years now, but working on blogs & blog design has always been done as a personal hobby. I’m definately thinking about taking on more blog design projects if they’re this fun to work on!
Here’s some tips for having your blog or website redesigned
1. Know what you like – collect pictures (pinterest is great for this!) and bookmark sites that you love the look of
2. Know what you don’t like – about your current blog/site, about others.
3. Don’t go overboard – I feel that the content (your blog entries, your photos etc) will be the feature of your website. The design is the frame.
4. Choose colours you like to wear – for the same reason as 3 above, the design will stay the same for however long you keep it, so it’s like wearing your most favourite clothes and displaying your Sunday best 🙂
5. Stay true to who you are – especially for a blog, keep it as close to ‘you’ as possible. If you can’t do this with design, do it with the content you post.
My next project is the redesign & move of my online store Stitch Baby + Kids on Monday! It’s 95% done – a brand new store, new software and new template. Can you tell I’m a bit of a design geek?
