sunday report (with photos)

happy fathers day to all the fathers celebrating fathers day today! (i think it’s just australia?)

earlier in the day, Regan and i headed out for yum cha with my family – but the line for it was an hour long, so we had a regular (and oily) meal at a noodle house nearby… inspired by iron chef last night, we were on the look out for chilli prawns, but settled for some other yummy things including the traditional combination vege with crispy noodles (see pic! yum.)

we all ended up having a nice talk about the trip – which reminds me, i have to sort out how to vote in the election since i’ll be out of the country. if anyone has tips, let me know! otherwise i’ll have to go down to the council and ask i think …

just as we got home from lunch/afternoon tea, a storm hit sydney and there was hail for the second time this weekend! it had hailed last night too but we couldn’t see it. hundreds of these tiny tiny hail stones were hitting our windows, and we even got an eye full when we ventured out on our patio (won’t do that again!).

click here to see the view of some rooftops with the hail stones. it’s the closest thing to snow i’ve ever seen with my own eyes… well apart from the freezer frost.

my good friend Kirsten is back in Sydney for a week, so we headed out to a beer cafe up at the rocks to catch up with her and a few of our friends. Regan and I hadn’t see her since my 21st birthday more than 2 years ago but it was like she never left! i’ll definately see her a few more times during the week before she jets off back to the UK.

it’s very cool to see her, she’s gone to so many different places and living the way she wanted too. one of the first things she said to me, though, was that she saw britney spears in concert – and didn’t like it! haha. awesome.

Regan took a group shot of all us girls together, but somehow it came
out blurry. maybe my camera was drunk but we’ll get it right next time!

rounding off my sunday was a session in trying to capture lightning. not very successful when you actually can’t see the lightning (just the glow) but as I was going back through the shots, I saw that I managed to shoot three very blurry photos of them through our very very dirty windows. my first!

i think lightning shots are suited for the very patient photographers with cable releases. me, i had a finger on the button, a sore arm and a candy bar. haha. it was fun though, i’ve never had any remote luck with it before..

so how was your sunday?

love the bar photo. and yay! for catching a bit of lightning! 🙂

we had a ton of hail here maybe two years ago, and it really did look like snow. the street was allll white, because the hail was so big, and there was so much of it. crazy. i was hoping snow would come too, but it never did. ;_;

They have a nice list of fine beers over there, cool. Which ones have you tried? You’d have a hard time finding a pub like that in Belgium though, we’ve evolved since 1940! 😉
