i just knew watching mary poppins the other night would bring out that kite lovin’ kid in me.
you gotta love a kite festival on the beach – so when i realised the festival of the winds was happening this weekend, i headed down to bondi for an hour or so to capture some good old Sydney photographs like i usually do (but hadn’t lately because… well i’m lazy/strung out).

the series of photos from this morning will be up on shutterbug before i leave, hopefully this scary kite will make it up sometime too. what was cool, was that i wasn’t going to be the only camera wielding maniac as usual – virtually everyone had a camera! yippee! (let me know if you were down there today too).
it was incredibly windy this morning, which was both excellent for kite flying – and bad for kite flying. too much wind that some of the heavier and more elaborate kites could of flown away and covered a section of tamarama (the next suburb over) if given the chance.
my favourite kite was the one pictured above, the frilled neck lizard. two seconds after i took that photo – it tried to eat me and my camera, but i was having none of that and the lizard kite survived to fly another day.
