hooray! 26 weeks 🙂
26 being my favourite number, i’m very happy to arrive at this milestone in the pregnancy. each week is a sign of relief really – not because i want it over (LOL) but because it means 1 more step to a healthy bouncing baby in my arms in may 🙂
i’m very tired this week, so i’m back on iron & vitamin c tablets, aswell as eating more greens and red meat (which i have a hankering for anyway). belly is growing and stretching, so my back is trying to accommodate. i get alot of braxton hicks, which is fine because i know it means we’re practising and the baby is getting alot of blood and oxygen at the same time.
i had my glucose tolerance test at the midwives clinic last week – all is great 😀 they found me a gluten free version of glucaid, which was GREAT at first and then got nasty! with Jasper they didn’t have the gluten free version so i just did an overnight fast and blood test.
baby girl and i were checked and we’re doing great too – fundal height was spot on. heartbeating away. she kicks and turns like crazy all the time, but i don’t mind – Regan will administer payback (wrestlemania) once she’s out 😛
we’re thinking of moving Jasper into a toddler bed soon so that baby girl can have the cot. i don’t know how it’ll go though! i don’t want to rush JJ if he’s not ready – we can hear him knocking about in his cot after we put him to bed. he’s such an active sleeper. i’m toying with the idea of getting a hammock and having her sleep in our room for a bit …
i will cut down to 4 days a week of work in about april, and then aim to take leave from mid-may. i’ll only probably take 12 weeks off max (which is about the same as i took with JJ), so i’m going to try and work right up until my due date, if not 39 weeks. it’s a really tough thing to swallow, short maternity leave, but it’s for the financial good of our family and i know my children are in great care with their grandparents. still sucks/hurts though.
i’m a broken record when i say i’m so lucky and so grateful. but the events of the past few days down in victoria, really make me appreciate my good health, my great life and the people in it. hug your partner, hug your mum and dad, hug your brothers and sisters, hug your babies. we’re not promised tomorrow, so live today.
