yes, still here — my mum calls me to check on whether i’ve had the baby, but the strange thing is that she is the first person i’d be calling if i were in labour, she’s my ride to the hospital LOL. (unless, of course, i had the baby at home and just plum forgot to tell her, don’t you hate when that happens?)
so technically, i’m not ‘late’ late, i’m just on my ESTIMATED due date. i keep reminding myself that 😉
my mind is a bit scattered because i didn’t think i would make it to 40 weeks, so i’ve been preparing myself for at least another week or two and that’s hard. my body is coping, just, but i think the mental game is tougher. i have an appointment tomorrow, and i’ll probably ask to be checked to see how i’m going (haven’t had an internal yet) and see what they think. part of me really wants to be selfish and asked to be induced this week and forego the drug-free labour experience (which i wouldn’t mind, Jasper’s birth was awesome and i was induced and fell in love with the epidural). the other part of me says to be patient, experience it for what it is and surrender to the natural process.
my braxton hicks are more intense and regular these days. i can’t walk around alot as my hips (and other things) burn. terrible backache, terrible cramps. i’m nauseous most of the day and i’m sure i’m a total delight to Regan LOL. pregnancy is so… so… much fun 😉
Just thought I’d post a quick update – no baby yet but there’s heaps of time yet 😉
I am getting anxious about how it will all go – whether I’ll have the strength and courage to go drug free, or whether I’ll opt for an epidural again. Whether i’m in for a 93 hour saga again or whether it’ll go hard and fast… All I want is a great day and my baby in my arms!
I’m spending alot of my Internet time on the iPod touch Regan bought me for my birthday. It’s really handy for me to use – but has taken me a while to get used to typing out things on it! So I’ve been twittering more than usual …
Anyway, it’s been a good week of rest at home with Regan and Jasper, but can’t wait for what’s to come
A big congrats to Barb on the birth of her beautiful daughter Ede 🙂
just a quick update for memories sake 😉
midwife appointment went well today – i’m now 38 weeks along, and getting to that uncomfortable stage. i thought i was sore last week, but i forget how much it taxes you as the days go on. i took a photo of what my braxton hicks have looked like for the past few months — belly gets really high and tight on one side which is a bit weird! but they say it’s like giving the baby a little squeeze, and is practice for the real contractions. my bh have been more frequent and getting more intense, which i totally expected anyway
i’m also now on maternity leave!! i have about 3 months off this time, and Regan has some time off also — which is going to be awesome 🙂
sleeping at night has become something of a circus trick – gosh forbid that i need to roll over.. it literally will take about an hour for me to flip into a better position. i now know what it’s like for walrus’. i AM glad to report that my hands are still functional, no stiffness still and i hope it stays that way!
nothing much else to report other than it could be any day now .. Jasper arrived on his due date, but that’s no indication of anything. could be tomorrow, could be another 4 weeks (eeek!). i feel like i could definately go another 2 weeks, but then again my next post might see me begging to be induced LOL. i’ll give nature at least another 3 weeks i think, though i hope she brings me my baby, happy and healthy no matter what.
