Norman Reedus in Sydney

Posted on January 30th, 2013 by Tracey

It’s no secret that i love The Walking Dead – we’ve been watching it when it first started in the States, and I’ve devoured all of the existing comic books so far. I even took the comics in with me when I had my cvs and my amnio as a ‘calm down’ strategy… Season 3 has been on a mid-season break for a couple of months, and is due to start in a couple of weeks, hooray!

By the grace of Buddha or some almighty being, Norman Reedus flew into Sydney this week for a quick promo tour. When I saw he was doing a Q&A, it took me about 10 minutes to figure out the logistics (will Regan be home to take care of the kids, what time do I have to leave, what would I eat in the car on the way there… hey I’m pregnant and hungry) before I booked a ticket. After a quick txt to my sister, I was lucky to book her a ticket also before it sold out completely.

The Q&A was pretty good – I will admit I had some secondhand embarrassment for some of the fan girls, but hey they gotta do what they gotta do, right? (I just don’t know what Norman would do with 50 billion portraits of himself). Would of been cool to get a photo with him, but I just could not compete with the SWARMS of people (men and women) who mobbed him 2 seconds after the Q&A was finished. Even in the darkness of the theatre, people jumped up onto the stage and clambered over the rows of chairs to get close. (I am REALLY happy that people got their photo with him though!)

It was really awesome to watch the last episode with 750 other TWD fans – especially the fight scene with the aquariums (you’ll know what I mean if you’ve seen it). A bunch of people screaming at a big screen when Andrea came on, and everyone cheering for Daryl in the last scene.

I’m SO glad that I sucked it up and waddled my pregnant butt over to Randwick – even if my body is paying for it today. Norman does seem like an easy going, friendly guy which is nice – and FX/PopcornTaxi did a good job at pulling it all together within a week.

For the Reedus fans, I’m going to post the few photos I took below the jump… enjoy!

another year gone

Posted on December 31st, 2012 by Tracey

i’ve been thinking back to the events of the last year, most of it was a blur (in and out of hospitals, doctor’s offices. opening up letters for follow ups, summaries and diagnoses) but it was also filled with alot of gratitude and happiness.

even though we received Jovie’s Rett Syndrome diagnosis in June, i feel like i grieved more in 2011 when we first read about the syndrome and realised how much it matched up to us. being prepared, really pushed me faster to the place of acceptance and moving forward. and i’m grateful for that.

falling pregnant in october was truly a blessing. i also feel like it’s our own way of moving forward with living our lives and giving thanks to all that we have. i certainly am aware of how tough life is with the RS diagnosis, but i don’t think that should stop us from living a full and happy life. it would be a tragedy if we all gave up on happiness because life wasn’t ‘perfect’ all of a sudden. who wants to be perfect anyway?

if i’ve learnt anything in the last 12 months, it’s to never give up on anything that means something to you. whether it’s family. friends. career. hobbies. it/they will always enrich your lives, if you make the effort.

so here’s to a blurry but interesting 2012, and to an even more interesting 2013!

Happy Holidays!

merry christmas!

Wishing you and your family a fantastic holiday season 🙂

We are just waking up on Boxing Day over here, and I have a Christmas hangover… no, not from drinking. From being me on feet most of the day (in the kitchen – the turkey came out amazing!) and spending my first day in 3 months without a nap!

I’m happily eating leftovers for breakfast this morning and will spend the rest of the day with Regan and the kids – just the way it’s supposed to be 🙂

I’m now 14 weeks pregnant and my morning sickness & stomach bug has officially left the building. I am still bone tired most days, but I’m able to function better and act like a regular human. I’ve been really enjoying the last week, getting ready for Christmas. And now we’re on ‘Summer holidays’ (someone tell that to the weather…), will be trying to catch up with friends that I haven’t seen for a little while.

I have a date booked for an amnio (Jan 4, our wedding anniversary …) but I don’t know whether I’ll do it. There are more chances of everything being fine, then not and I’m leaning towards just leaving things be but I’ll talk it over with Regan again. Oi.

My sister Hayley got engaged a few weeks ago and they’re starting to plan and set a date, it’s so exciting! It won’t be for a couple of years, but we’ve (and by that, I mean Hayley and I, lol) already been all over Pinterest to get some inspiration. I love a wedding.

It’s time for me to put my feet up on the couch and play with Jovie – both of the kids had an amazing day yesterday but we know Jovie in particular just loved being around our whole family. It’s such a great time of year! xx
