a third child

Posted on September 20th, 2012 by Tracey

I am a woman, set to a clock. I like things on time and I don’t like to be late. (You can be late, that’s ok, but I will turn up 1 hour early if I think *I* will be late). Jasper was born 22 hours ‘late’, Jovie was born 5 hours ‘late’ – good kids, those. Suffice to say that when my ‘lady days’ were late last week, for what was the first time in 19 years, it had me wondering.

Skipping the details, no I’m not pregnant but it definately had me thinking….

Regan and I had always said 2 kids was enough, and yes in alot of ways it is. Our house has enough room for 2 kids, the backseat of our car has room for 2 booster seats. We have one child for each of us, so we’re never too overwhelmed. It’s the ‘comfortable’ and ‘safe’ number for alot of families and I can see why.

I’d never thought of having another child after having Jovie, but even with all the ‘extra’ we’re doing lately with therapy etc, it doesn’t scare me to at least discuss it a little bit more now. Having that third child will tip the balance, but the more I think about it, the more I could see us with another child in our life.

SCARY but oddly okay.

a healthier life

I’ve been so tired & sore lately – not sure what it is but it reminds me of a couple of months ago when I was struck down with that horrid flu. Yuck.

For the last 6 weeks or so, I’ve been very good with my eating & exercising – YES, ME. They said that if you do something every day for 21 days it becomes a habit, and I’m really glad my habit is jumping on the elliptical and then doing some strength training ‘for fun’. Maybe my body has been telling me to rest this week?

Food wise, it’s a tougher road. I’m great with breakfast and snacks, but come lunch & dinner & dessert – it’s an uphill battle to say no to the deliciousness of carbs & chocolate. I definately treat myself now and then, because who wants to live in a world where there’s no chocolate, but learning how to stop after one piece is tricky tricky business.

While I was sick with pneumonia, I had to take a probiotic so that my stomach wouldn’t implode out of sadness. I still like taking a probiotic now and then, so having it available in juice now is amazing.

Yum – spelt flakes, yoghurt and berries, with a bottle of Healthy Life probiotic juice nearby.

Having tried probiotics in powder form, and in those tiny milk bottles – the probiotic juice is by far my favourite choice. The juice tastes like juice and there’s no added sugar. Jasper’s had a few mini cups and he loves it – which is great for when his stomach is running afoul too. You can find the Healthy Life probiotic juice in the cold juice section at any major supermarket in NSW, QLD and VIC.

I normally don’t like to review stuff here on my personal blog (I leave it for the ABB), but this product was something I would recommend any of my friends if they were on antibiotics, were rundown or having a hard time in the toilet department. Because, you know, it happens.

So I’ll try and ride out the rest of the week (it’s only Monday, Tracey!) to see whether this tiredness lifts, but at least I know I’m drinking something that’ll help my battling immune system 🙂

p.s. YAY FOR SPRING. BOO TO HAY FEVER.

back to business

it’s been a tough month but i’m ready to get back into our regular routine!

i didn’t mention it before, but Regan has been away for the last month – he flew back to visit his family in the States at the end of June and returned safely to us yesterday morning

it was a trip that we’d been planning for a while, Regan hadn’t been back in 5 years (the last time he was over was when I was pregnant with Jasper) and as strange as it sounds, I was looking forward to taking care of the kids & the house on my own – just to know that i could do it.

of course we know that all went to poop on about day 3 when I came down with the flu, which turned into pneumonia, and has ended in this week-long all body rash & itch. the kids and I ended up staying at my parents house for about 2 weeks, because I was just not able to look after Jovie while she was sick also. so the whole month has been a right off for me, but i’m very very happy that Regan had a chance to get home and see his family 🙂

Jasper is so excited to have his daddy back home, and I can tell that Jovie is happy to see his handsome face again too. she’s been very upset over the last few days (Rett related stuff..), so it’s really good to have our family together at home.

today, i’m sorting out my photoshop issues (hasn’t been working.. grr) and getting back to blogging and organising some things for Jovie (speech therapist, new wheelchair/stroller, communication systems). if anything, this last month has opened up how i think about where my life is going – stripping it back has been clarifying for me, but i’ll write about that soon …
