I hear a light thud coming from his room. The door handle jiggles and his little head peers out.
“Mummy?”
Oh no, he’s up again.
It’s just after 11pm and I’m working on my blogs before I head to bed myself, and Jasper is up for the second time since putting him to sleep at 9. He always wakes, it’s like clockwork these days.
The only thing to settle him is to lay down next to him and pretend to sleep yourself. Though these days, you can safely replace the word “pretend” with “go”.
I wake up at 6am, half my body hanging off his tiny toddler bed, let out a sigh and then I smile. It’s not forever, but I’d give anything for night or two of a full night’s sleep.
