halloween with a super mario birthday cake!

jasper's super mario birthday cake!

happy halloween! it’s Jasper’s birthday on the 2nd, so we turned his mini party into a Halloween party and dressed up a little.

Regan was a Ghostbuster, Jovie was Snow White, Jasper was Super Mario and I went as Ugly Betty (though I don’t have any photos of myself to post?!). The house was decorated a little bit (and was the only house in the area with a carved pumpkin out front, I think) – just enough spiders for Jasper to get a little worried 😛

Jasper’s amazing cake was again by Treat Box (who made Jovie’s Hoot the Owl Birthday Cake). It’s sooo delicious, I probably love that cake more than a grown woman should (and I bet you I will keep Mario in the fridge for as long as he’ll stay nice)

we had a great time this year and if Jasper allows it, we’ll have another Halloween party next year!

a night out

Posted on September 26th, 2010 by Tracey

for the very first time last night, the kids stayed at grandma and grandpa’s!

one of my close friend’s was having her 30th birthday out in the city (lowenbrau, one of our favourites), and we threw caution to the wind and asked for the night off LOL. while we missed them terribly, it was a good chance to be by ourselves for once – i even got to sleep in until 8:30am you guys. 8:30am.

the kids were fine at my parents place, but i don’t think we’ll make it a habit… i kind of did miss Jasper’s butt in my face and peeking in on Jovie every time i woke in the night 🙂

p.s. if you’re ever at the lowenbrau, go for the pork knuckle. it’s amazingggg.. 😀

mum/MacGuyver

As a mum, you’ve got your bag of tricks – ways to make your little kid happy in the craziest of tantrums and silly voices to turn a chuckle into a real belly laugh.

Today, I turned into MacGuyver — what to do when Jovie decided to spill all of Jasper’s (diluted) apple juice all over the food court floor. There was no napkin dispenser around, none of the shops were open yet so I couldn’t ask them for a sponge or something. I wasn’t going to just leave it on the floor for some poor person to slip on, so it’s the nappy bag to the rescue!

The baby wipes weren’t absorbent enough, and I didn’t think my wash cloth had the power. So out comes the spare nappy and that apple juice spill is history!

Sure, I might of looked a bit strange blotting the floor with a nappy, but that floor was cleaner and drier than it was before.

The moral of the story? Snugglers ARE awesome. And so am I, 😛
