hello third trimester! which somehow also means hello third trimester morning sickness..
i have glimpses of a perfect pregnancy, energy and a bounce in my step, but out of nowhere came the nausea and the general feeling that you want to crawl under a cool dark rock and sleep forever. but that’s pregnancy for you isn’t it? with so much going on within your body, no wonder it wants to take a holiday time from time.
with 12 weeks (or less!) left, i am consciously trying to enjoy every ache and every detail of this pregnancy. i never thought i’d get the chance to be pregnant again, so i really do feel like this is a bonus round, a gift that we’ve been given and as i always say, i don’t want to regret one thing.
so apart from the morning sickness and the extruciating 24/7 back pain and the horrible intolerance to heat & humidity (i am writing this with not one but two fans pointed at me, and don’t get me started about the school pick ups that make me want to open up a chasm in the earth just so there’d be a breeze), i remind myself that we’re lucky to have what we have and to rock out this last trimester with a smile on my face. i’ve started swimming laps twice a week and am still walking alot. i crave vegetables & fruit, but will not miss out on the chocolate easter eggs for anything…
i don’t see my midwives for another 6 weeks, when i’m 34 weeks along (eeeeeek) because apparently being a third time mum means i have it under control, but you know what? i do.

it’s a beautiful Monday morning here, it was a little chilly this morning but JUST THE WAY THIS PREGNANT SWEATY MUM LIKES IT. today marks a change in our routine again, with Regan starting his new job (hooray!!) so i’m back to holding down the fort on my own once more.
i’m feeling much better than a few weeks ago, maybe it’s the change of weather too, but my energy is coming back thankfully and i’m not paranoid about fainting in public places anymore. i’m taking care of myself! great nourishing food, hydration, exercise and rest.
after the school drop off’s (Jasper at our local primary school, Jovie at her daycare 25 minutes away) this morning, i treated myself to an hour of laps at the pool. i’m really grateful that i have this alone time at this point of the pregnancy, when i was pregnant with the other kids i was still at work and not as active or as healthy or as grounded as i am now.
Jovie will start back at OT again this week (should of started last month but we were still flu-ey).. Jasper is LOVING school, and we’ll have proper parent/teacher meetings in a few weeks. i still want to photograph babies now and then but am OK with taking it easy because it’s tough on my back/body. everyone is doing great 🙂

our household routine is always changing, especially this year. come June and it will change yet again, but all these changes are good. you just gotta keep your head above the water and keep swimming x
so no news is good news.. but it’s also boring news LOL

i’m sitting on what has to be the 50th call to the midwives clinic today, to book my next appointment (they usually do it at the end of each appt but the computers were down and they asked me to call in). i tell you, not being able to get in touch with someone doesn’t help my organisational skills. but anyway
no gestational diabetes for this pregnancy! borderline – the first reading was 7.2, then she took it again and it was 6.6 and then 7.0. the cut off was 7.3, so I’ve just scraped under, though i wouldn’t of been surprised if i was over. i’ve never had GD before (my levels were always under 5 from memory) but my dad is diabetic and this pregnancy is just sucking the life out of me, lol.
i’m doing alot better in terms of the fainting etc. taking my iron religiously 30 minutes before meals so that it’s more effective. eating as cleanly as possible, which is making my tastebuds reject processed foods (another good thing for the long run!). i’m exercising more regularly, though my body also aches more regularly.
it’s March now but i feel like i have to slow down and not push myself too much because here comes the last trimester and the flu season …
