24 weeks

now entering the OMG stage of pregnancy

i’m feeling much better from the flu (which was especially terrible while pregnant), and i’m still getting a handle on my low blood pressure & low iron (which has been making me almost pass out, and absolutely embarass myself, in random public places). it’s hard to breathe properly these days which is annoying but thankfully Regan is still home for another 2 weeks before his new job starts and that helps tremendously.

my back aches alot, but the belly support band does help which is great. i’m back to exercising regularly to keep the aches and pains at bay. i’m grateful that it’s now autumn here, because i cannot stand the heat of that horrible summer.

the bub is doing good though, lots of big kicking to let me know he’s doing just fine after the last few weeks. alot of braxton hicks still (which started at 8 weeks) but nothing to be worried about.

i realise i’ve still got 16 weeks to go and it’s my third baby, but it’s hard to believe i will get bigger than this. i am and feel much bigger than i was the last two pregnancies for sure.

my aim for the next month is to avoid gestational diabetes (i have my test next week) and just make an effort to be more healthy and fit for the last trimester.

here’s to the next 4 weeks! may they be healthier and happier!

slow down, mama.

so yes, the dreaded flu hit me. again. i was feeling better, good enough to photograph the cute, 4 week old Lucas last week

newborn photography - lucas

(so adorable, i loved the session!)

but then the next day it hit me again, and this time much worse 🙁 usually i could probably just ride it out, but being pregnant means your body is always working overtime and your immune system is lower, so it’s been really tough to shake this virus without more antibiotics and forcing myself to rest

sick

i’m finding it REALLY HARD to rest, i’m a multitasker and i cannot sleep the day away… but i’ve had to keep reminding myself that if i don’t slow down now, i’m headed straight for the ER again because the next stop is pneumonia. my iron levels & blood pressure are also low, which means i’m out of breath most of the day, and yesterday at parent/teacher night i kept having to run out of the room because i felt like i was going to pass out (too stuffy, no air flow). yay pregnancy.

thankfully, the baby is doing great and Jovie (who also had the flu) is fully recovered. i just need a few more days of sitting on the couch, chicken soup, no computer (boo) and hot baths…. lucky for me, Regan is home for a few weeks before he starts his new job so he’s been helping out heaps. don’t know how i’d manage the school runs without him!

20 weeks

YES! It’s a boy!

We’ve actually known for a couple of weeks, the full results of the amnio came back ALL CLEAR (HOOOOOORAY!) and it also revealed the gender of the bun inside my oven. Another gorgeous boy 🙂 My instincts were spot on, but more importantly the bub is healthy and thriving and that’s all we wanted.

Today was my 20 week scan, which checked everything from the heart to kidneys, spine and limbs, brain and placenta. It’s my 5th ultrasound this pregnancy, and I am so grateful that this little boy has had the strength and patience with me as we’ve gone through the CVS and the amnio together. We’re halfway now! I’m measuring a few days further ahead again, 20w 6d (due date 16 June) but I’ll just stick to 20w 2d (due date 20 June) for now…. the baby has to come out either way, lol.

Jasper is really excited to have a little brother – I can see Regan and the boys, in 10 years time, doing what boys do and driving me nuts. I talk to Jovie everyday about what it’s like to be a big sister, and how her little brother can’t wait to get a cuddle and kiss from her. Everything is falling into place and life’s looking pretty sweet.
