since my last proper photo update, i’ve had the amnio which did go very well (as amnio’s can be). the scan also confirmed that i was measuring 6 days ahead and my estimated due date was bumped forward to june 20.
so the amnio? much better than the cvs. in terms of pain and procedure, it was quicker and less painful for me. maybe because i knew what to expect, it was just not as bad as i thought. again, i made sure to rest for 3 days (no heavy lifting, though i did have to pick up Jovie of course) and i only had a few cramps/pain.
on tuesday, 10 days later (6 working days), our genetic counsellor called me with the first part of the test results – no Rett Syndrome detected in our June bug 🙂 the next part of the testing (the chromosome results), will be available by the end of next week hopefully.
i still suspect that this bub is a boy, i swear i thought i saw something on the screen but the technician swiftly changed positions…. we will find out either way in the next couple of weeks through either the chromosome testing or my 20 week scan in a couple of weeks.
at 18 weeks, my morning sickness is completely gone but i need at least a 15 minute nap a day to survive. i’m loving being able to eat clean again, i’m still drinking heaps of water. i’m wearing almost 100% maternity clothes now, lucky that i’m finding bargains thanks to the summer sales!
i can feel little bub move around almost every day, there’s some definate kicks in there but he/she is alot quieter than Jasper and Jovie were at this time. my days and evenings are really busy, so i make sure to spend 10 minutes at the start and at the end of the day just concentrating on the bump.
time is going past pretty quickly, i cannot wait to meet this little one x

Wishing you and your family a fantastic holiday season 🙂
We are just waking up on Boxing Day over here, and I have a Christmas hangover… no, not from drinking. From being me on feet most of the day (in the kitchen – the turkey came out amazing!) and spending my first day in 3 months without a nap!
I’m happily eating leftovers for breakfast this morning and will spend the rest of the day with Regan and the kids – just the way it’s supposed to be 🙂
I’m now 14 weeks pregnant and my morning sickness & stomach bug has officially left the building. I am still bone tired most days, but I’m able to function better and act like a regular human. I’ve been really enjoying the last week, getting ready for Christmas. And now we’re on ‘Summer holidays’ (someone tell that to the weather…), will be trying to catch up with friends that I haven’t seen for a little while.
I have a date booked for an amnio (Jan 4, our wedding anniversary …) but I don’t know whether I’ll do it. There are more chances of everything being fine, then not and I’m leaning towards just leaving things be but I’ll talk it over with Regan again. Oi.
My sister Hayley got engaged a few weeks ago and they’re starting to plan and set a date, it’s so exciting! It won’t be for a couple of years, but we’ve (and by that, I mean Hayley and I, lol) already been all over Pinterest to get some inspiration. I love a wedding.
It’s time for me to put my feet up on the couch and play with Jovie – both of the kids had an amazing day yesterday but we know Jovie in particular just loved being around our whole family. It’s such a great time of year! xx

I know I keep blogging about this pregnancy, but it’s literally all I’ve been doing lately. Growin’ a baby.
I had a call from our genetic counsellor last Wednesday & Friday. Basically, the CVS sample they took the week beforehand was more me, than the CV (the stuff that turns into the placenta for the baby). So they may or may not be able to grow anything from it, therefore may not get any kind of result from the whole procedure. Bummer.
Being an optimist, I’m not terribly upset. It’s not the worst news ever, right? There’s still a chance there might be a result, but no guarantee.
On Friday, the GC suggested that I go for the NT scan & blood test in the meantime because I wasn’t comfortable with repeating the CVS again so soon (would of been within 2 weeks of the first one). I was going to skip the NT (because the CVS would trump it anyway), but because I would of had no screening before the Xmas/NY period, it sounded like a good option. So I thought about it for about 5 minutes and was lucky enough to make a booking for this morning.
Which brings me to this morning! The scan went well, SO RELIEVED to see little bub in there chilling out. I’ve been so sick (upstairs & downstairs, if you can imagine what that alludes to..) that I hadn’t been eating much but have kept hydrated. Thankfully that’s subsided today, and seeing lil bean was the cherry on top. Heartbeat 158bpm, and measuring 13 weeks and 5 days (which is 6 days ahead of what I thought I was).
Full results in a few days, but the technician wasn’t worried as everything looked great on screen. (update – all results came back great – low risk – hooray!)
The next step is my first appt at the hospital (hoping to go back to the Birth Centre, like I did for Jovie) and then to ENJOY CHRISTMAS! Get my Christmas craft going finally. Remind myself on how to make that awesome turkey again. Concentrate on giving the kids a great Christmas again this year.
After Christmas and just after New Years, we’ll decide on whether to go for the Amnio. Yes another set of pointy things, speared into my body. But that’s something I can put off for at least the next 2 weeks.
Let’s celebrate! After the gut wrenching events in CT, there’s never been a better time to be thankful for what we have right this second and I for one am GRATEFUL.
