hooray! last thursday we passed 16 weeks along in the pregnancy!
i’m starting to feel more like myself, unpregnant and itching for a shopping spree! i do have a cold (sore throat, throbbing headache and the sniffles) but nothing the bub and i can’t handle.
in the past week, i’ve gone to thinking i’m never going to get a baby bump, to the start of a definate change in shape. things go very quickly, apparently, in the next couple of weeks. my jeans no longer do up (yes i still wear them.. the horror of an open fly!) so i’m trying to get creative now that it’s getting colder and colder. i don’t think the world is ready for me to walk around with a doona cape..
had a check up at the hospital today, and the obstetrician gave me the go ahead to see a midwife for the rest of the pregnancy, things are going very well 🙂 i also got to hear the heartbeat again today!! the little one was hiding way lower than i thought, but it’s beating strong and the doc was very happy.
i’ve been feeling the little movements more and more in the past month – from maybe once a week, to maybe 5-6 times a day now. i love it! but i can’t wait for the REAL kicks so Regan can cop it .. i mean so he can join in on the fun 😉 😛
my next appointment is the scan at 19 weeks to see how things are going and to find out the baby’s gender!!!!! at first, i really thought it was a girl but this past week i’ve really been swayed to believe it’s a boy… we have about 3 weeks to go, so let the guessing begin!! Regan and I will definately find out, but whether we’ll tell anyone else is yet to be decided…
p.s. for anyone waiting on emails from me, i apologise! the account is on my laptop, and my laptop doesn’t connect to the internet 80% of the time for some weird reason …
planned for a relaxing weekend, but as it always happens, there’s just so much to do, even though it’s not much at all
saturday morning, early start to get a few things for the apartment. we have an open house soon and mum wants me to decorate it like i’m on oprah or something, lol. later on, i went to meet my friends out in parramatta. i hadn’t seen most of them since aisy’s wedding, so it was really cool to hang out with them again. very cool to see little natalie, she’s gotten so big (yet stays so small) and i got to spend a little time with her on my own which was nice. saturday night was girl’s night with my sister, which was cool. Mischa got her hair cut, i finally got my eyebrows done and Hayley told me about her plans to travel some more..
sunday, mothers day, was another early one. went and got the groceries before the crack of dawn so i had the rest of the day free. we had plans to see a movie with mum, but Hayley read the schedule wrong and we got there too late for the morning session, but way too early for the lunch one. we ended up in the food court, having a good old laugh which was better than any movie any way 😉 walked around for a bit, buying mum what she wanted for mothers day (not what we thought she wanted)
i think by then, i had really overdone it. things started to get hazy and i couldn’t form a sentence other than ‘i need to sit’. by lunch, i was on the couch at my parents house passed out and having some nasty round ligament pains. i slept for about 3 hours before driving myself home, half in tears because of how uncomfortable it was. the rest of the day was a write off, i didn’t want to move (and couldn’t) so i went to bed at 6pm and didn’t get up until this morning.
things are alot better today, feel like i’m getting a cold though but nothing that i can’t handle. i realise there’s alot of stuff that i’ll experience in the next few months, so things like round ligament pain i need to take in it’s stride. but… it still sucks.

we had our first ultrasound earlier this afternoon and it was every bit as amazing as i knew it would be 🙂
right up until today, i was so so anxious that i was a professional hypocondriac, and that i was dreaming everything so far. but there was absolutely nothing to worry about, nothing to be anxious about.
we were there for about 2 hours (their computers had gone down so there was alot of waiting) but we saw our beautiful baby on this HUGE flat screen they have set up. it was like a movie theatre!! (i want it!) briefly, she turned the sound on/up and we heard a loud thumping heartbeat (168bpm) which stunned us completely as we weren’t expecting it.
we saw it’s little heartbeat flicker on the screen, it’s arms and legs flail about for brief moments and, true to Tracey form, it’s stubborness to move from a head down position. you’ll often find me like that on the couch. with a bag of corn chips. niiiice.
Regan and I were told our chances of any genetic defects were very low – 1 in 18,359 chances of down syndrome; 1 in 33,467 chances of edward’s syndrome or patau’s syndrome. if it were 1 in 300 or below, then they’d consider us high risk. we could very well be high risk still (tests are about 90% accurate) but we’re at least confident the baby is in there and doing ok.
another thing they mentioned was that they thought i was a few days further along, 12 weeks 5 days, but because the bloods matched my original calculations, they said to stay on track.
tomorrow i’m 12 weeks with a permanent smile on my face 😀 🙁
