i’ve only just realised that it’s almost time to pop out a baby
one of the ladies in our November mum’s group has had her twins a bit early (at 34 weeks) and seeing their photo today is a big wake up call that it’s my turn soon. it’s not that i’ve forgotten that that’s what happens, but wow time goes quick. he really could come at any moment – well anywhere from now and 6 weeks or so, but still! wow.
i’m very aware of time going by so fast now, and trying to keep up with it has been exhausting. i’m forgetting that there is no rush, that every minute is still a minute, every hour still an hour – and that i should enjoy each second of it as it’s not going to be returned to me no matter what i do.
as i look down on my ever-expanding belly, i’m still in denial that in no more than a few weeks time my son will be introduced into this big world of ours. i feel as humble as i did in those early weeks in this pregnancy, i know i’ve already started a big adventure, one that will last me until the rest of my days and beyond.
as for ailments of the past month – i’m definately tired alot more, my back hurts in a new way now, legs and feet and hands are swollen, i can’t bend my fingers without grimacing in pain (makes teethbrushing suck!). i tend to lose my breath alot more, even when sitting down. i can see a couple of small stretchmarks starting to form on the bottom of the bump, but that doesn’t bother me at all. i’m starting to nest, but know that i can’t go crazy with it. i can’t wear my wedding and engagement rings anymore, so i’ve kept it in a safe place elsewhere.
whenever i pass a mirror, i giggle at the sight of how big i’m getting – i love it. it crept up on me, but finally i’m obviously pregnant! people are starting to stop and stare, which i don’t mind, i’m just lucky that people are not reaching out to touch the bump without permission. they’re probably just wondering when i was going to take out the basketball i’ve got hidden under my shirt.
so now that we’re moved into our new home, i’m going to try and use the time wisely – get the nursery set up and decorated, then feet up! i want to spend this last month (more or less) really slowing down and keeping in tune with myself and the bub, and of course Regan. we’re on the home stretch and i’m so ready to go!!
had been up all night (after that long day of moving yesterday) and felt like the bub was using my insides as a squeeze toy.
i never really went to sleep so i got out of bed early for a hot shower (didn’t help) and then walked around the townhouse to find a comfortable place – on the couch, on the floor, outside on the grass in a yoga pose (which worked best). but since i couldn’t find a comfortable position to sleep in, i couldn’t sleep it off and i couldn’t eat or drink because of the extreme nausea (i was carrying around an ikea blue bag because it was the first thing i saw) – i called the midwives and they asked me to come in for a check up.
mum & dad were over within 15 minutes (i think they thought THIS WAS IT!) and i went up to the birth unit with Regan and my mum for observation. spent a few hours there getting checked on. we got to hear the bub’s heartbeat (mum’s first time!) and they poked and prodded my stomach to see where it hurt. i was a bit dehydrated but otherwise was OK to go home – after a shot of maxolon in one leg, and buscopan in the other. it helped me sleep a bit while i was there, which was awesome, so we came home to rest. we figured it was just bad indigestion .. the curry perhaps but whatever it was, it was super annoying.
still feeling a bit crap now but at least i’ve had some sleep. hopefully i’ll be OK tomorrow! this kind of thing doesn’t last very long
so that was our first day in our new townhouse 😛
