Took a swim in the just-opened Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre tonight – pretty nice!
There’s the standard 50m lap pool, a leisure pool with spa and a hydrotherapy pool. There’s a sauna in there somewhere but I didn’t check it out.
The lifeguard was nice enough to let me swim laps in the extra-slow arse lane so I didn’t hold up any of the other swimmers in the slow lane.. Managed to get a decent aqua workout, spent about 45 mins doing laps and then repeating the stuff I’ve learnt at aquanatal.
It’s $6 for adults for a casual swim, which is pretty good considering I’m not a member and it’s a brand new facility. (An RSL we used to go to used to charge $6, but now charges about $20 a swim!!)
Since it’s not far from our apartment, I’ll probably be down there a couple of times a week until we move (which is still a few weeks away). Swimming has been great during my pregnancy so I’m glad I didn’t have to give it up completely. I much rather a 2 block walk, than the 3 hour drive every week…
