i’ve never really been a winter kind of girl – and this winter really proves it.
every day it’s the same ritual of layering on the thermals. not just 1 thermal piece, 4. yes, FOUR.
2 long sleeved thermal singlets, 2 long thermal pants for the day. at night, 2 long sleeved thermal tops. and this is under 2 or 3 layers of regular clothes, and a jacket or cardigan or hoodie.
there’s something about being dressed like the michelin man that doesn’t scream ‘attractive’.
i can’t wait to be wearing cute dresses or just a casual top and jeans, again.
after reading a little bit about other parents’ experiences with sleep regression, i suddenly feel more awake and content
even waking up at 2.30 this morning to soothe J back to sleep has put a smile back on my face. knowing what i know now, and making the decision to just go with it and remember that it’s a developmental phase and it will pass, has given me back some sort of peace to my sleep deprived day.
i’m really excited that Jasper is now pulling up on his own, cruising the furniture, saying DIG DIG DIG DIG DIG over and over again. it’s a wonder of life 🙂 how can i be mad about that? i can’t.
i hope that one day a parent will stumble upon my ramblings about being so tired your face feels like it’s falling off, and it will help them too.
NOW, if i can only get rid of this awful cough, i’d be golden. maybe a trip to the dr is in order. i can’t be coughing for hours at night when i need to be sleeping…
after another night of wake ups (only 2, which is quite good), i was browsing my bookmarks for websites i’ve kept aside for reading later – one is Moxie, and in particular this thread
i was reading down it and came across this paragraph –
The “8-month sleep regression” (which for some babies is closer to a 9-month sleep regression) is related to the 37-week spurt. For some reason that one just seems to cause more waking, too, than some of the other spurts do. It might also be particularly hard because many babies are smack in the middle of working on crawling or walking, and also teething. (At Casa Moxie we’ve had probably 8 weeks of crappy sleep between teething, the 37-week spurt, crawling, teething, and now pulling up. Every now and then he’ll have an easy night, but boy is it rough being a 9-month-old.)
and then i checked the latest newsletter email that I get each week – Jasper is (you guessed it) 37 weeks old. ha! it might not solve or explain what we’re going through exactly, but it’s a pretty big coincidence, right? 8 weeks of crap sleep (all of us), crawling, teething, pulling up … that’s us to a T.
i actually do subscribe to the ‘wonder week’ theory anyway, but never thought to read the chart again until now. we really don’t want to let him cry it out, so instead we’ll ride it out …
off to read up a bit more on this – but leave me a link to more info if you have it!!
