postman pat pilates

no, i haven’t gone mad, nor did Postman Pat release a new dvd

i’m not a big fan of weighing yourself or measuring how big you are, relying on a number to dictate how you ‘should’ be. but since having 2 kids in just over 2 years (Jasper and Jovie are about 18 months apart, throw in time being pregnant and that’s about 2 years +) – i really wanted to get back into shape and treat my body well. it’s done me proud, and i want to keep it healthy and happy!

so i set a goal – get fit and looking GOOD by the time i turn 30, to wear my favourite dress again, which gives me about 18 months to achieve it.

and how will i do it? HA. asking this question is like a crazy riddle, wrapped in a joke – i haven’t played regular sports since high school, and the last regular exercise was swimming once a week while i was pregnant. i do walk, but not often enough. since starting back at work (which i’ll post about later in the week), there is basically no time to get to a gym and i’m not venturing outside in the winter dark for a jog!

like other mum’s out there, i just scheduled it into my routine: instead of sitting on the couch to catch up on a nap, i pop in a Postman Pat show to distract Jasper and i get on the floor and go through a pilates routine that i used to do (before kids). if i’ve got time in the morning while Jasper splashes around the tub and Jovie is asleep, i’ll do another short session in front of the open bathroom door, lying in the hallway so i can keep an eye on Jasper and be in earshot of Jovie. the routine takes about 15 minutes to go through and by the end of it, i feel much better 🙂

a few weeks ago, i did take my hips-waist-bust measurements to keep track of it, but i haven’t weighed myself yet and don’t plan to go out of my way to do so. currently, i’m about a size 12, and i wish to get back to a size 8, but would be happy with a size 10 or just to fit into my old, still nice, clothes.

so .. here i go! i will try to update monthly to see how it’s going – wish me luck and pray that the cheesecake gods are on an extended holiday.
