time’s a’changing

Posted on December 22nd, 2007 by Tracey

yesterday Regan and I took Jasper into the city for the first time, to meet Regan’s work friends. i hadn’t been into the city since we moved out 4 or so months ago, so it was really cool to ‘go back’ and see things again. we didn’t stay long (it was hot hot hot yesterday!) but since i have more time off now, i’ll definately go back in for a longer visit.

last night, i managed to drag my butt out for a few hours for the first time all year it seems (since i’d been pregnant february-november). an old friend of mine is visiting from the uk and a couple of my friends were meeting at a local hot-spot pub/bar/club thing that i’d never been too, so i made the extra effort to get out. i don’t know, seeing my friends was awesome of course, but the whole scene was just really .. not me. i don’t think it was ever me, i don’t like the sleazy men making sleazy comments, i don’t drink, i don’t smoke, it smelt like body odour wherever i turned. the girls where all young and workin’ it in their gorgeous (and not so gorgeous) teeny tiny dresses, i just wanted to sit and talk to my friends and not have to scream over the music. i felt about 6 years too old to be there.

i got home and held onto Regan like the stink on those sweaty boys skin.

i’m so so glad to be so so boring.. and old… and happy.

the 6 week checkup!

at 6 weeksso after dreading it and dreading it for the past few weeks – i bit the bullet and went into my doctor for the six week checkup you’re supposed to do after having a baby.. i’m just under 6 weeks post, but i figure i’d get it over and done with

i’m pretty proud of myself for going in – i’ve always hated the pap smear, and i was so nervous about it this time around. the doc was really nice about it – and it was over in less than a minute. she also checked my ovaries and gave me my first shot of the cervical cancer vaccine, which stings!

i also weighed myself while i was there out of curiosity (we don’t like scales in our home) and i’m 4kg’s away from the first weigh in i had (at 12 weeks pregnant). i’m not bothered by it though, i don’t feel like a whale so i’m not counting the calories..

so yay! thus ends my pregnancy related appointments. next up, jasper’s first immunisation in 2 weeks time

parrrrrty

our familymy parents and my sister threw Jasper’s 1 month welcoming at our home yesterday. it was great to see old faces, lots of my aunts and uncles came to meet J and fawn all over him, lol. he’s the first grandkid from my generation of family, so everyone was extra excited!

an hour before guests started to arrive, a big storm hit our area and i was trapped in our garage, haha. we don’t have covered access between our house and the garage, and i had the sushi and cake with me so i had to wait it out until it died down a bit. (i screamed as i ran back into the house when it did calm down, i’m strange). alot of my friends had flood damage or lost their electricity in their houses, we were lucky to have escaped the giant hailstones.

the rest of the night was great though – heaps of leftovers since nobody really ate the sushi i bought (yay for me though, i looove sushi) and mum overestimated how much food to cook. J got more great presents, and he met Cara’s daughter Rafi (who is 12 weeks old) and Prasangi’s daughter Natalie (who just turned 1!). he was really well behaved around everyone, loved being held and passed around. a very good little boy they all said!

so after the big clean up, we all crashed for the night and woke up this morning for the big cleanup. next party – christmas!!
