happy new year!!!

Posted on January 1st, 2008 by Tracey

2007 was definately my best year ever! i started the year a little rocky, with doctor’s appointments and ultrasounds. i was finally getting my head (and body) around what is going on with me and then in february i found out i was pregnant!

dec 31 2007 - end of the best year everi think i had the most fun, most enjoyment this past year because of the pregnancy – i loved every minute of it and i would do it all again in a heartbeat. especially the birth and meeting the little one, that was the most joy i’ve ever experienced! my health issues seemed to clear up too – i didn’t have migraines and i could eat dairy for the first time in ages. i felt healthier and better than ever before. it was 9 months of discovery and i know i’ll always look back and remember 2007 as life changing, sort of like therapy in a way. i would of never had guessed that we would have a beautiful baby boy 12 months ago, i guess dreams do come true when you least expect it!

being pregnant and a mum also allowed me to see Regan in a new light – he’s an amazing father, a total natural. i never have to ask him to do anything for Jasper, because he’s already doing it! seeing him this way, makes me appreciate him even more as a husband, a partner and a person. seeing Jasper’s eyes light up when his daddy is around, is indescribable. you couldn’t put a price on it.

anyway, i hope that 2008 brings everyone everything we wanted and more. you never know what is around the corner, but i hope that whatever comes your way makes you smile everyday.

happy new year everyone!

i finally got around to clearing out my closet and, surprisingly, it was really sad …

starting from the drawers full of stuff that i knew i didn’t like anyway, and then going through my prized pieces, my absolute favourites – slowly one by one i tried them each on, and slowly one by one they didn’t fit.

i know it must sound so silly, but seeing each cool tshirt and every lovely dress that i’ve bought and worn with joy get thrown into the “doesn’t fit” pile broke my heart. it’s like saying goodbye to who i was before, and having to start again.

of course, i realise that i have a gorgeous baby boy to be so so thankful for (and i am!!) but with every piece of clothing that didn’t fit me, the nail was hammered further into the wood – i’ve changed and i need to find out who i am again.

now you’re probably saying “damn girl, just buy a size larger now” but it’s not that simple – i think what you wear on your outside is a reflection of who you are on the inside. so it’s a big thing when you’re forced to start again, and where do you start? each item that you get is part of your history, so like a hunter i’ll need to find the things that will become part of who i think i am. it’ll be interesting, it’ll be fun – but most of all, it’ll be me. again.

p.s. for the record – it’s my hips and my rib cage (and feet and fingers) that has expanded, so unless you know a way to shrink bone back, i’ve gone up a size. i’m totally fine with that part – i don’t think i’m fat, i think i look pretty damn good for someone who had a baby 8 weeks ago 😛 but that doesn’t change the fact that i am now bigger than before. all that seems to fit me now are a couple of shirts and shorts and that’s it.

best christmas ever!

Merry Christmas everyone 😀

santa in trainingwe had a great day yesterday – Jasper’s first christmas and Mischa’s 3rd birthday all rolled into one! we put more effort into it this year, my family were so excited to give J some cool toys – my sister was on the brink of hysterics when we all started to open up gifts (usually we’re very low key and don’t have many gifts).

of course, i dressed up J as a mini-santa, how could i resist? he looked so cute in it, there were plenty of photos taken! it’s such a weird feeling to think that this time last year he was just a dream, and next year he’ll be up and walking 🙂
