Old friends, New friends

When we moved to our townhouse in the suburbs, alot of my stuff was culled down gladly but there were a few things that I knew I wanted to keep, like my CAMERAS of course (oh, and my husband..). I was 7 months pregnant with Jasper at the time, and was in charge of throwing things in boxes and telling people what to do. Ah to be pregnant and bossy …
I was also in charge of packing my cameras away and thought they were all accounted for, but nope, there was a bag missing 🙁 A few of my fun film cameras like the Agat and Supersampler where GONE and for years I’ve teetered on the edge of buying them again. The last photo I posted to shutterbug was taken on the Agat and I missed my half-frame camera with it’s crazy coolness..
Flash forward to last week. I’m teaching my dad the finer points of eBay at my parent’s house one afternoon. While waiting for him to type in an extraordinarily long password, I start to take in the characteristics of the room we’re sitting in. I’m there now and then, but rarely do I have time to look around and fire up memories of old photographs and toys that scatter the room.
There’s the wall of photographs with old school portraits, a complete set of encyclopaedia’s that are probably 20 years old now and, oh what’s THAT? MY CAMERA BAG WEDGED BETWEEN THE OLDEST TV IN LIVING HISTORY AND A CABBAGE PATCH KID.
Stunned that I’d never seen it until now, I pull it out like a mother yanking her new baby from her lady parts (ok, maybe not that graphic) and it’s like greeting an old friend – my camera bag that I used for wedding photography jobs.. Unzipping it unveiled a posse of little treasures – MY CAMERAS!
After 4 years of hiding, the Agat, the Supersampler, even my Fanta camera and the Gary Fong lightsphere have been reunited with me and it feels so gooood.
I’m setting aside some quality time with each over the summer, they deserve to see a little sun 🙂

I love my group of friends – we’ve known each other since high school and have seen each other grow up and go on to do some great things. New jobs, trips of a lifetime, weddings …
And now it’s an incredible honour to see our children all grow up together.
The newest little member of our group is Lucas, born on Friday and is as cute as a button! Jasper and I went in for a visit this morning and little Alexis was there too (with his parents, of course lol). I snapped a quick photo of the three boys together, the first of many photo ops in our future …
Jasper is already in love with Lucas’ big sisters, so no doubt he’s going to have an awesome time with his new buddies Alexis (now 4 weeks old) and Lucas!
