goodbye, GeoCities

Posted on April 24th, 2009 by Tracey

GEOCITIES used to be the place many people made their first website, but now it’s shutting up shop.

Yahoo announced it is closing GeoCities, a free service that hosts personal home pages, which it acquired 10 years ago during the dotcom boom.

The service, which became synonymous with early amateur websites and old-school animated images, is no longer accepting new customers and will be closing later this year.

even though I thought it was long dead too (LOL), it’ll be sad to see it go. i had my first website up at Geocities back around 1997 or so – it was the most exciting thing for me : picking out a neighbourhood, setting up my own place on the net, adding a billion animated GIF’s, making my text fluoro green …

ahhh the memories.

enormous?

enormous

so news.com.au was reporting that Nicole Richie (who is no more than 5 months pregnant?) was looking ‘enormous’. see pic here.

niiice. she’s hardly enormous, for one. and i know it’s “the news”/gossip but surely there are nicer ways to say that someone seems to be showing early? it’s her second baby in as many years, i know i popped out earlier this time too but i was hardly enormous until maybe a week ago when i took up the whole aisle at woolworths when i stood sideways ..

bah, i’m just too sensitive at the moment LOL

just don’t go around telling people they’re enormous when they’re pregnant, ok? 😛 i think we all realise we’re bigger than we were last week, no need for the commentary on how we’re doing. we have eyes. just tell me i look great and give me that last slice of cake. there, wasn’t so hard was it?

twilight, alright

Posted on April 22nd, 2009 by Tracey

i’m not known for being a bookworm – i prefer images to words myself 😉 so i missed the whole twilight book obsession.. but my sister and my mother were/are thoroughly caught up in it, so when i had the chance to see the movie, i thought i’d give it a go

well, i saw it. and yeah … lol. i think if i had a little teenage fangirl inside me, i’d be going nuts over Edward too but what’s with
– Peter Facinelli looking like he fell into a vat of baby powder. i know he’s undead and all, but my gosh put a colour rinse through your hair and get crazy with some bronzer at least. it’s 2009!
– Jasper’s permanent wide eyed stare (maybe that was just around Bella?). made me laugh for the wrong reasons 😛
– the movie going slower that this pregnancy – i thought i’d have the baby, then throw her first birthday party before the movie ended.

i did LOVE the Cullen’s house though – best of both worlds: modern, and secluded. seem’s like others love it too 🙂 it’s called The Hoke House and i want to steal it.. somehow.. not sure how actually.

i think instead of fawning over the vampires, i’m going to direct my undying lust to this house instead!!

design tavern have a more info and some great photos – check it out it – http://www.designtavern.com/2008/12/14/fit-for-a-vampire-the-hoke-house-the-cullen-house-from-twilight-skylab-architecture/
