on NOT being gluten free anymore

i’ve been thinking alot about it lately – how wonderful it would be to not be restricted to gluten free, yeast free food..

and it’s not the ability to just eat whatever i wanted (because i would cartwheel for a really decent cheeseburger right about now). what it comes down to, is the feeling of family and being a part of something. the more i think about it, the more i believe i am a pain in the ass, always asking whether things are gluten free or not going out to eat because it’s not gluten free. i’m tired of asking my friends, my family to check the ingredients.

don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a gluten free lifestyle. there are some really delicious gluten free, yeast free products out there – and of course i would stay gluten free my entire life if i had to, no problems. but i dream about the freedom of sitting around the table at yum cha, and eating. grabbing lunch ANYWHERE and not picking through the menu only to discover that water will be my meal. being able to eat christmas lunch with my family, and share what they’re having.

at this point, there’s no way i would just ‘try eating some bread and see what happens’. 1. i’m pregnant; and 2. i know what happens. i don’t believe i have coeliac disease, though i do need to be tested and that needs to happen ON gluten.

i think after the baby arrives and i’ve recovered my balance a bit, i’ll look into seeing someone about allergy elimination. i’m a bit wary of woo-woo doctors, but i am willing to at least give it a go … i guess i am after a definitive answer – am i gluten free for life?

anyone have any experiences with NAET? or have any advice/encouragement/suggestions?

brotherly love

Jasper’s only recently learnt how to kiss on command, and today for the first time, he kissed my belly! 😀

i said ‘Jasper kiss the baby?’
he turned to me, lifted up my shirt (as he does when i ask where the baby is – also CUTE), and planted a small MUAH on my belly.

life. is. amazing!

ahh summer

so my summer break finished on monday this week, and i’ve been back at work this week. it’s always tough getting back into it, especially when the break was so enjoyable!

we didn’t do much – Regan was working, so we stuck to the homebase but i prefer that nowadays anyway 🙂

one much needed project was complete – a new computer desk! actually, it’s more like new computer desks/station. it’s so much better, see for yourself

before

after
'new' office

2 smaller desks so there are 2 stations for us – one is for work (just me), one is for personal (Regan and I share). middle tower is 2 bedside tables stacked and clamped together, hard drives, scanner and external hard drives go in there. covered with a metre of fabric (so Jasper’s little hands don’t find the on/off buttons anymore). ALL FROM IKEA! lol. didn’t cost me more than $180 all up, i think. the desks were $39 each, that itself is a bargain.

what do you think?
