i feel heaps bigger than i did when i was pregnant with Jasper at this point – but looking at a comparison shot, maybe not?

Jasper, on the left. Baby girl, on the right.
maybe a bit lower (boy do I feel THAT), but only really a smidge bigger.
a quickie update about how bub and i are going
i had a 31 week check up last week and all is well. bub is still head down, fundal height was 33cms, heartbeat strong. the midwife noticed my ankles were swollen, but i didn’t have the heart to tell her ‘actually, that’s how my ankles usually are. i have cankles …’
my legs are a bit swollen some days though – i can see the white spots on them when i’ve been on my feet too much. swimming is going good – i paddled over to the ‘fast’ lap lane today and really got a good workout!
we’re starting to talk more about birth plans and i’ve been looking up things like birthing stools and fit balls to cope with the pain. i’m so curious about how it will all go – faster? harder? longer? same? i can’t wait for whatever comes really 🙂
still working full time, was hoping to go to 4 days a week but that’s been pushed back. also looking at going on maternity leave at 39 weeks instead of 38 weeks :/ eeep.
so today we hit the magical 30 week mark! excuse me while my eyes boggle out of my head – but hasn’t this gone too fast?? i’m at the pointy end of the pregnancy now, where i’m starting to look like i’ve smuggled a basketball or i’m constantly doggy paddling and running out of puff. it’s becoming more and more real, that in 12 weeks time (at the most), another little human being will enter into this world and i cannot wait for it all to happen!
i’ve started back at regular (well, once a week) swimming to help my back and rsi issues. if there was anything i would complain about for this pregnancy, is that my back is causing me so much grief, that i swear like a drunken sailor under my breath every time i try to get up or roll over or scoot down or sneeze. swimming seems to help alot – the day or so after i’ve had a good swim, my back doesn’t hurt as much. so i’m busting to get back into the pool again, tonight hopefully! i’m not the swearing kind, it’s not becoming LOL
i’m learning that my stomach cannot handle too much food anymore, again. big breakfast is OK, medium lunch and then a small small dinner is necessary – or chaos ensues! i remember last time with Jasper, about this point in the pregnancy, i went into the hospital because of incredibly bad stomach pain – so i keep this in mind every day.
baby girl (or boy, as Regan wants to point out – the sonographer ‘could be wrong you knowwwwww’) is doing well. definately a mover like her brother, always kicking or rolling which is a sign of good health apparently. she’d be just over 1kg now – so the rest of the time she’ll be gaining weight (that’s my excuse for whatever i’ve put on so far LOL). i wonder who she’ll look like more 🙂 i’m so curious!
i had been umming and ahhing about going to get professional photos taken of this pregnancy at some point – but i figure, i have a camera and i used to take a decent photo in my time, get off your butt and do it yourself 😛 so the photos you see here are from last week (29 weeks long). i’ll take another set at about 36-38 weeks i think .. i’m also really into the idea of photographing or even videoing the labour and birth process more this time. no ‘up’ shots or anything confronting, but just a snippet of something to document it

i’m starting to get a little sad that it’s coming to an end already, this will be our last child (i do keep myself open as a surrogate in the future, but of course they won’t be my kids then). yep, pregnancy is tough, even though i’ve had it ‘easy’ – it certainly does effect you in more than one way. i’m very lucky to be in this position and i thank buddha for my growing belly and stretchmarks each day.
after this bub is born and the memories fade, i will always have the gratitude and the respect for what i was able to experience.
